Chaps,
What does £27 buy you today? Well i received my Sharkoon Rebel 9 case today, first impressions...well....rather positive really, BUT with some caveats.
Delivery from Scan was (unusually) painless & the packaging first rate i thought.
Nice clean clutter free front with chunky power & reset buttons along with 2 discreete
HDD & power
LED's.
The case boasts 9 drive bays with the uppermost being the 3 1/2" drive.
The paintwork is a grainy satin & nicely finished, the front surround is plastic & matches very well with the two steel side panels.
The L/H/S panel has a pull ring....ohhh yeah
As mentioned the paintwork is very good however the inside is unfinished steel...FUGLY if you ask me.
The panels are quite thin & weedy, i should imagine these will resonate nicely

You can see clearly the provision for 2 120mm fans in the side panel, & it has louvres top & bottom.
The inside is remarkably free from clutter, but someones got to paint it.
The main framework of the chassis is finished nicely (no sharp edges) but the rear panel is nasty & thin & where the
PSU mounts, razor sharp.
The
PSU mounting is quite rudimentary just a small ledge, i placed my buggered Hiper Type R (580w) (which i've found to be a pain to fit to any case), no suprises then when none of the mounting holes line up & it looks as if you'll have to remove the rear grill if you have one on your
PSU, the edges here are lethal, be careful.
Fan mounting options are limited to one 120mm fan in the front there is a mounting plate there which is screwed to the drive bay mounting holes & looks as if it can be moved up or down. At the rear you can mount 2 80mm fans & as previously mentioned two 120mm fans can be mounted in the side panel.
Underneath has no feet to speak of, it sit's on four draughts counters

Provisio there also for another speaker, another speaker i hear you chorus....yep, this case has a small piezo speaker in the front of the case....ahh the luxury.
All the wirings there for the 4 front
USB connectors plus the usual earphones & mic, no firewire though.
The front mesh covered drive covers are quite substantial being plastic with black steel mesh. They push out forward BTW from inside the case.
The front bezel is plastic with a grainy type finish to match the painted metal, it does look like the bezel will be a bugger to remove, being held to the metal frame with 6 plastic lugs what's the odds on these snap just by concentrating hard

Apologies for the crap photo's.
Extra's & accessories well you get a bag-o-nuts, stand-off's & those poxy red washers you never use, you also get what look to be 3 1/2" adapter plates, four of em. Oh & the coveted Sharkoon badge.
Take's a full sized
ATX mobo with ease.
Size comparison ohh-err, against my Lian Li PC 75 (ongoing project) & my main rig in a Antec P-180 case.
I do like this case, however it's tooo bargain basement, the options to mount water gear are limited, it's just a tad small, if i was going to use one for water cooling i'd try a Rebel 12, bearing in mind though the 12 is twice the price.
You could do much worse for your £27, so for me it's a stayer.
Cheers.
Tim.
