Windows 7 Testers Find 2,000 Bugs: Be Proud You Found One

Windows 7 Testers Find 2,000 Bugs: Be Proud You Found One

Jordan Spencer Cunningham
Fri 27th Feb 2009 00:15 UTC

It's been nearly two months since the beta of Windows 7 was officially released to the general public, and some of us have been getting fidgety to know just what bugs have been reported and what will be fixed. Microsoft was biding its time, letting the information collect and nearly stagnate, when we finally got official word on some of the results of the testing process.

The reason it took so long, so says Steven Sinofsky, senior vice president for Windows and Windows Live Engineering Group at Microsoft, is from the sheer feedback, and apparently not just from the Send Feedback option on every Windows 7 program title bar.....

Windows 7's UAC is a broken mess; mend it or end it

Opinion: Windows 7's UAC is a broken mess; mend it or end it - Ars Technica

The changes Microsoft has made to Windows 7's UAC render it little more than a pesky annoyance. If this is the path the company wishes to go down, it should stop doing things by halves and kill it off altogether.

I say bin UAC. Everytime I've made a decision what to run on my machine, I meant it. I don't need windows verifying every action I take. Maybe it's designed for indecisive people

I've got used to it now on the laptop, it still mildly annoying, but doable just. On the testing rig, though, it's a major annoyance and I hate it.
