Nice review but now for the logical question: is this different in any way(from hardware point of view) to the UT X58? So if one would want to watercool it you would you need the extra heatsinks on the UT or are they the same just the cooling differs?

Yes hardware wise there atre several differences between this aand the UT.
  • PWM DK=Hybrid 6+2+2 v UT=8-Phase Volterra Full Digital PWM
  • Sound DK = on board Realtek ALC889 for 8CH HD v Bernstein audio module
  • Gfx = DK = 2-way SLI or Quad CrossFireX v UT = 3 graphics cards in 3-way SLI or Quad CrossFireX configuration
  • Lan DK Marvell 88E8053 PCIE Gigabit v Marvell 88E8052 and Marvell 88E8053 PCIE Gigabit LAN controllers
Above are what come to mind, may well be others i've forgotten.

I'm not sure what you mean

What I was meaning(tired and that had effects):
So if one would want to watercool it would you need the extra heatsinks on the UT or are they the same, just the cooling differs?
You responded to the question fully in you post above.

Great review there!
You already point out the differences between this board and the UT.
You summed them all up there, and all I can add is a few more fan-connectors and flame freezer (?) on the UT, but that's it. Now the big question: Is it worth the £60 ish difference?

Default All Auto - 180 BCLK

Thought I might as well start of revisiting Dave's early clocks . DFI Lanparty UT X58-T3eH8 - First Tests and Overclocks

To recap all is on auto except BCLK 133--> 180

OCCT , Nuclearus & Passmark

3DMark06 2xAti HD4670 Crossfire @stock
It's weird that I can run this. According to the manual & past experience I need to have 2 bridges to run these cards in crossfire.
The bridges I have been using are too narrow, see below, the top bridge is the right width, and is provided with this board.

According to the manual for the graphics card, I need two bridges:

Certainly on P45 I couldn't get crossfire without 2x bridges and I had to disconnect second card to get into vista during this build. I decided to give it another go this am and it's running.
Looking at database I'm about +500 oints which i guess is down to 2x16bandwidth and

Default Nehalem Stability Testing

I'd seen the Hyper threading as Dual Core checkbox in OCCT3 (5th line down, Centre) :

It wasn't until I was running Coretemp alongside OCCT3 that I realised the significance of the 4 core 2 thread impact on benchmark loading.
You can see from the above that CPU loading is only around 50%. In other words the cores are loaded 100% but only using 4 threads NOT 8.

Ticking the box in OCCT runs with the full 8 threads on full load:-

Impact of this is that average temps on Full 8x threads will be higher. If running with Hyper Threading unticked, your stability may not be as good as you think, as your not testing on full load, you may need extra Volts to get there.

Temperature & load Stats for the two methods are:-
Unticked x4 Threads

Ticked x8 Threads
