looks like I've cracked 3.6Ghz(450Mhz x 8 ), got prime95 running for a little under 10 1/2hrs so far without any freezing or errors so think I may have got it. the vid is 1.3875(1.43 with the added voltage the motherboard adds, 1.42v with vdroop), the temps have hit 66oC tho as its cooler today its been in the high 50oCs low 60oC overall(going to try lowering the vcore to the 1.375v tomorrow to see if that works. don't think it'll work any lower). the gtl is 115/108/108 & nb is 1.55v

don't think I can get any more out of it with out going into the 1.4v+, even then it'll be difficult.

peter enis don't know where you heard/read that.

It means you left prime running for far too long

You can get fails after 48 hours, I think supershanks had one after 3 days or so, he left it on while he went on holiday

Could be anything, really...I would declare that as stable.

I'd have been sweating all holiday, worrying if my PC/house was dead!

Well, prime95 is a fickle thing. I've had them fail right on 12 hours, and then a re-run fails after a few mins, and another re-run passed 12 hours.

If absolutely every other program runs without issue, 4 hours or so hours of a successful run of Prime is more then enough. With today's processor, especially quads, an extended run of Prime is likely to fail because of localized hot spots in the die. Very few other programs are going to physically and thermally stress a CPU as Prime does.

Intel also recognizes this fact. Their design specification for the HSF stops short of being able to cope with the thermal load at the rated maximum wattage of the processor. But they go on to state that few programs will be able to laod the CPU to this maximum so it should be a non-issue.

yes this one

Just shows that priming is about probabilities. The longer it runs the higher the probability it's stable. That still doesn't mean that the odd long shot will occur
