Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme CPU Cooler Review Print E-mail

Tuniq, a subsidiary of Sunbeam Tech, came to prominence with their Tuniq Tower 120 which, for a long time was the cooler of choice for many people.  Fast forward a few years and  Tuniq have unveiled the successor to the original Tower, the Tower 120 Extreme.  The  Extreme is a really stylish looking black heat sink with an internal fan, featuring five heat pipes and using HDT - Heatpipe Direct Touch technology, or as Tuniq prefer to call it "Core Contact Technology".  HDT means that the heat pipes are in direct contact with the CPU's IHS (Integrated Heat Spreader) and often gives better cooling performance than conventional CPU heat sinks. HDT has been widely adopted by companies such as Xigmatek, mainly in the mid to budget end of the market. This is the first HDT cooler in the heavyweight "Extreme" division, so it will be interesting to see how this cooler performs and if it lives up to its pedigree.
