Default need nero / roxio alternatives??

i am fed up with nero and will not go there ever again i dont think. nero lite and micro for some reason do not agree with the burner in my laptop and will not allow a disc at once burn while the full version 8 does? anyway after even using nero removal tool i had to remove nearly 1300 reg entries!!! seriously!!! way way to intrusive for me with it calling home feature and scout as well ..never again..

i am trying out gear pro 7 right now and while it is very nice it lacks a lot of user interface options.. any other options you can recc. i want something similar to a one app solution like nero. been eyeing pradus discjuggler, prassi ones, oront burner, etc.. i just dont want to install/uninstall a million apps so im trying to narrow it down some. any suggestions for me... i want something more advanced though not just a one click thing.. i want to be able to verify the burn, adjust speed / booktype etc.. thanks in advance

Nero 6+ was the last sensible Nero version as far as I'm concerned. Which I still use to this day, the trend for burning apps these days is to lean on the bloated side. You've actually mentioned the alternatives that most people tout as decent. Really the only way is to install and see what you prefer unfortunately, what someone else likes you might not. That said ImgBurn and CDBurnerXP are minimal free Windows alternatives I've used and liked, and I like K3b in linux. Depends what functionality you want too really; Alcohol 120% CD and DVD Burning Software and DAEMONS Tools / Pro are worth a look at if you want emulation type thing.

actually if gear was not so slow performance wise i would prob reall really like it.. it just seems that when buring at say 32x on a cd it seems to run like nero did at say 12x or something..
