And don't forget you don't have to physically install it, you can mount it as a virtual DVD in VMWare / Virtualbox.

It is good to actually get back to using an OS where you click and things happen instantly.... I do find Vista's sluggishness pretty annoying tbh..... let's hope this one doesn't go the same way.

I'm with that , even a fresh vista install will seem faster than a 12m old one with loads of software etc., installed. I remember trying the Vista BTA at this stage and it seemed ok. Have got the 64bit loaded on a spare partition on my rig, not done owt with it yet, will give it a whirl. and get more of a feel with a few apps on it. Hopefully the compatable apps will be better than the 50/50 splir when vista public bta was launched.

I've only run it on a VM (W7x64) so far, but it seems ok. Not really much progress past what I'm using (Vista x64), but then it's a Beta.

Hand on heart, as it stands it wouldn't necessarily warrant a purchase over Vista, which I actually like

Installed a few apps yesterday , no issues, tbh on what i've seen so far nothing outstanding:-
Pro
Less Fussy better User security alerts.
Like the Pin to thing for quick launch etc.,
Cons
With a few apps on & av feels no better than Vista

Just got round to installing Win7 on the test rig and I have to say that first impressions are much like everyone else's, seems much much quicker than my Vista installation, more snappy like XP, no more of the hideous UAC pestering the crap out of me, but I did find one oddity tonight when I was setting it up and that was Firefox.

I downloaded the Firefox exe file to the desktop and double clicked it....waited....waited...waited......dou ble clicked again, waited....waited....still nothing apart from the DVD drive spinning up. I ran it as admin and it worked first time, and then so did the other six instances that I'd launched

Cosmetically, I really like it with the exception of the quick launch icons, they seem too big and it's going to take some getting used to the show desktop control being on the right, I've had that in the quick launch bar since 2000bc

Very nice though so far.
