Windows 7 Editions Become Further Defined :: TweakTown

Quote:
Microsoft has shed a little more light on what will define each edition of Windows 7:
  • Windows 7 Home Basic and Starter editions will be limited to 8GB of memory.
  • Home Premium will allow up to 16GB of memory
  • Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate will allow up to 192GB of RAM.

This shouldn't affect the average consumer, but enthusiasts will probably want to make sure they can utilize all of their memory should they be using more than 8GB.

They should have had a mid-range version with the higher memory support and without all the useless crap that you usually get on the ultimate editions.

Windows 7 RC is now up on MSDN & Technet if anyone has access to it. XP mode beta is also there too

This should mean that a may 5th public release is on track for us mere mortals

Windows 7 (build 7100 Release Candidate x64 bit)

With these services disabled I still had approx 30 services running in the background consuming 700-900 MB of memory. This wasn't a problem with 6GB of DDR2 memory installed and a Windows 7 Experience rating of 6.0
I will probably switch to W-7 when I'm forced to, right now I see nothing to persuade me to fork out $200-300 for it when it's released. It looks nice is about all I will say.
