All mine are still there in the buddy list, just no-one else is online atm. I've got yours still in here but something must have screwed up.

Normal MSN wont install either...its a catastrophe, we're all doomed

What kind of normal msn messenger?? you mean the Windows Live Messenger?? kind

Nope, just the normal one.

Theres a few other things need fixing in this windows installation, so ill give vista sp1 a try...wish me luck

Just bare in mind it wont install because MS have moved you over to MSN Live above ^^ - **** all you can do about that.
