Has anyone gotten the JMicron controller to disable? I am using the 10/7 bios and it still wont boot if you disbale the JMicron and have the ICH10 in ACHI.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums

I haven't tried this to be honest, my disk isn't set up as AHCI.

Are you sure you have the SATA cables in the right sockets?

Always a good idea to rule out any possible causes.
Well, I have now tried my last option to try to fix the 4x Link Width problem, another power supply. I got permission from a friend to borrow his "box" so I could connect his FSP Fortron 1000 Watt. Nice power supply, I must say, almost made me want to buy one myself, but they are not cheap! As soon as I powered up, the Link Width was at 4x. As always, I re-booted until it came up at 8x. But it still would boot at 4x randomly,
exact same behavior as with my PCP&C 750.
So, I have tried all possible options, bioses, settings, re-seating the video card, complete cmos clearing, and power supply (although one could continue to try more power supplies but I think that would be a bit much!).
The only good thing is that I can get it into 8x eventually by re-booting, but that is becoming a pain!
Hopefully, there is a possible permanent cure with a new bios release, although I am not sure if that can be done either. I am going to continue for a while longer with the board since it is otherwise working splendidly, but I am also considering going back to an ATX board if I must. Fortunately I have kept a couple of my previous ATX cases.

That's not good then. I think from what DFI said, it's not a BIOS fault, so might be worth RMAing the board.

It would be a shame to dump it completely though, normally they work great

I foolishly forgot to thank you again for all your help and good advise, Clunk! Appreciate the enquires with DFI also.
Yes, it would be a shame to dump an otherwise good working board. But I will probably choose to avoid the RMA route, the cost of shipping the board to the U.S., plus the duty charges our government here imposes on us, even if it's an item for warranty repair or replacement, makes it not worthwhile. And there is the down-time, which can be lengthy in such cases, not just on DFI's part, but shipping times and waiting for customs clearance at the borders can be brutal.
Buying a replacement board, while more costly overall, allows me to make the swap at my convenience and within a short time, usually a day or two. While I have encountered faulty hardware before doing many system builds, they have been few and far between, fortunately

Just wondering why it has to go back to the US? Don't your retailers look after you over there? Here, for the first year, the retailer has to handle any RMA.

But yeah, I can understand what a pain it can be.
