Would you mind trying something for me?

Disable the RAID setup and run HD Tune on each of the 80GB drives. I was recently a victim of the Asus P5K Premium motherboard and it's SATA issues, which still haven't been fixed. Let me know if there are any sudden drops in the transfer speed or if there is a sustained slow transfer rate. This was a supposedly isolated issue although Intel did get involved in trying to fix it, some people reported success with the 7.8 drivers but many other didn't. My ix38 will be delivered tuesday next week and I'm still a little nervous about the board although I'm only looking for a mild 3.0GHz overclock of the Q6600.

Have just had to launch the lifeboat
Had been tuning my 491x8 biosd settings, had been in xp & run a great 32M Pi when it crashed. got into bios loaded defaults & there was nowt. No fanss, nothing.

So got the gigabyte out & have tested cpu & memory which are ok. Haver left Abit board with battery out while i did this.

Will retest abit again now.

Anybody a suggestion ?

Hi mate,
is it any easier on x9 multi, my 1200 was @9x400 1:1.5
I know what you mean though, I was just playing with 8x450 & couldn't hit 1:1.25 1125 which i expected but managed 1:1.20 1080 it seems very patchy.

Default Finding Optimum GTLRef

Glowball this may help ??
VTT & FSB

The Graph gives you the approximate VCC / FSB lSo for 400 = 1.3v
Quote:
2) GTLs set to 66%-70% of VTT seem to be at the most effective point for "stable overclocking" of quad-core CPUs.
So try the above ranges. I started at 68% which is the middle of the optimum range specified.

Use Prime & Guru to test GTLRef.

Make a careful not of which core fails 1st. change the GTLREF for the failing +/1 1 unit.

Restart prime & repeat.

Hopefully you should get longer prime runs.
