Hello again, I hope everyone is well !

Ahh to be back amungst friends

Just caught up and saw Scan mentioned a few times, I ordered all of my current rig from there, all arrived in good shape, they were a bit of an arse taking back my Galaxy 850W when I said it wasn't compatable with my mobo, but it all sorted itself out.

So, how are we all ?

SS...the footy situation just keeps getting worse...we are more and more like Newcastle with every passing day !

I am oficially now on "garden leave" which is when your employer sends you home for the remainder of your contract before the ultimate end. I am still job hunting and just getting back into my gaming...COD4 rocks ! so I will be keeping tabs on here again..might flash to latest bios today, Thanks for the linky....only after the wife chores list is completed though

Good luck on the job front!

To be fair, I have had 2 apologetic emails from Scan and an offer for free postage on my next order... should I decide to use them again, think they got the message. Just a pity that they couldn't have part shipped the order in the first place and not caused bad feelings. Remains to be seen when I will get my money back, no sign of a confirmation email yet.

Default Still have days when I have to reset the CMOS

I flashed my IX38 BIOS to the released v12 the other day.

I am running at a very stable and conservative overclock.

I still have the odd day when I need to reset my CMOS in order to get the thing to boot.

This is a pain as not only do I have to go through my BIOS again and modify settings but I also run RAID1 and have to recreate the array every time it happens.

Is anybody else experiencing this?

Hi m8.

Easiest way round that is to use [f6] in main bios screen to save your settings. Then if you doi have to reset cmos you just select [f7] from the same point & your old settings will be loaded. with raid all you then need do is ebter bios again & select your hd boot priority depending on which sata connections your drives are on.

To avoid having to clear cmos might be worth testing stability in prime. also check the postcode led to see what post is halting on.

luck

I have Primed enough to ensure it's not a stability issue.

The system goes into the well documented loop when I have the problem.
Powers up, starts to boot, powers down after about 2 seconds and back to the beginning again. Repeat.

Does clearing the CMOS not clear out any saved BIOS settings then?

As for the RAID array, I have to hit CTRL+I and recreate it. I wonder if this is stored with the saved profile?

My main worry is if it won't let me recreate the array without clearing the disks (normally when you create an array it does clear the disks).

No ,

Don't use the CTRL+I , just go into bios re-select sata access = raid mode & reboot, you should then see that your raid is now recognised.

What enermax psu are you using ?? Enermax PSU issues Ring any bells.

luck

Resetting the CMOS doesn't clear out saved BIOS settings then. Great news

Superb advice, thank you

Enermax eh? BAHHH Yeah I have one of those

Is the machine ever likely to have issues AFTER booting up with an Enermax?
The reason I ask is that it's hard to justify purchasing a new PSU just for this slight issue.

If I did purchase a new PSU which would you recommend?
