but the quality control of their products and the fact that they release about 15 versions of the same chipset is what puts me off them.
Your perceptive That's the reason my last 2 boards have been Gigabyte & Abit. I was ready for a change, and didn't like the 15 variant idea.

means that they need to be doing things bigger and better,
Exactly which is where both DFI & Abit have made a niche for themselves on occasion with a good board. Prior to this Abit have had 2 in a row. Think many , including myself were hoping for 3. My experience is that the board ain't bad but the package leaves a sour taste.

Side question, hows this board respond to 4x1gb mem sticks?
Personally not a clue, but X38 in general seems to run quiet well. But even at £65 I don't feel the urge to try . i'll save that to my ddr3 fund You should be able to do 334x9 easy.

I ran 9x412 stable with 4x 1GB Ballistix Tracer PC2 8500. Had a problem with lower multis so I couldn't test any higher. My board's being RMA'd though, so maybe I'll have better luck with the replacement.

And mee too - once the postman decides I've waited long enough!
Seems ages ago since I ordered them... last year in fact.

Yeah, My PWM's started doing this very loud electronic noise. It's on the way back to Newegg now, so hopefully weekend after this one I'll be back up and running.

Lets's hope so it's a pita waiting.
Clunk had a commando that he reckoned sounded like a canary, a coil or something whistled.

Johnny Bravo sent me a new bios this AM M704B_12.B08
Don't know what the changes are. No change for sure on 1:1.25 >400 doesn't run.

M704B_12.B08 - Initial Feedback looks fairly decent.
