I'm not sure where to start on my RAM voltage settings, different programs are throwing all sorts of numbers at me and what I put in BIOS doesn't seem to reflect what some of these programs are telling me.

All I know it that I can't run memtest for more than 1-5 minutes before I get errors and it BSOD/shuts down. Funny enough, the computer is perflectly stable running everything else, including playing some heavy games like bioshock and I don't normally have any other problems except when running these testing programs. Also a few voltage readouts in EVEREST are a concern to me. So, I would like an expert to look over some things please.

I'm running 4x1GB PC6400C4 GEiL DDR2-800 with "on sticker" specs of 4-4-4-12 & 2.1V with a Q6600 G0.

First small problem. I enter 4-4-4-12 in BIOS and EVEREST and CPU-Z tells me it's actually in 4-4-4-18. So, I put 4-4-4-6 in BIOS and then CPU-Z and EVEREST tell me it's in 4-4-4-12 - Is that a BIOS error, which is telling me the truth, software or hardware? - I wasn't sure so I set it manually back to 12.

Anyway onto the voltages;

That tREF value of 3120T is not a typeo
Try setting your DRAM divider a little lower to get it under 800. I know 16 over isn't much but quad kits seem to be very picky.

Time to remove the additional two sticks and see if it can get there with the first two.

SuperPi v1.5Mod

Best spill it down yer throat it is Friday night

@Optimus - Welcome to the forum
I'd folllow System48's advise. Looking over your settings you might try :-

Code:
CPU VTT VOLTAGE.................... - 1.20V ---> 1.30v

luck

OMG....managed to burn an ISO of latest memtest86.
Booted up and immediately it hung and rebooted on the first stick.

I thought I was doing something wrong, so I let it reboot into memtest86 and it did the same again, lots of error messages, followed by system reboot.

Sorry they are so blurry...beer and needing fast reflexes don't go together

The third [of the 4] is testing on test 5 as I type...so far almost 30 mins passed, no errors....then will try test 8 for 30 minutes and try the final stick...jeeez no wonder I am getting nowhere fast, duff PSU and Duff RAM...I sure know how to pick 'em !!

Beginning to think you've something in common with clunk, thought he was the unluckiest guy I knew.

Hope you've got enough drink for the night, looks like it may be a long one

aaahhhh, its wierd though, my second stick, passes test 5 and 8 in memtest, but if you try to do the whole bunch of tests to start, it freaks out just like the sticks pictured above.

I guess I will have to try the other "bad" sticks again just on tests 5 & 8 too....I wonder what is wrong ?

You are on the wrong version of memtest. You want v1.70.

You can grab UBCD and it's on there.
