CPU waterblock mount looks real neat - no ugly mounting posts. NB cooling looks a good idea but I personally wouldn't trust the 2 sprung wires across the centre, pipes could dislodge it too easily.

I'm at a stalemate on my build, I think I will revert my IN9 back to air cooling and water-cool the IX38 instead as I find it overclocks much easier.

I'd been pondering something like that Think it's probably about the best option going to cool NB.

Was quite impressed getting 3.6k on air but yep water certainly gives more scope

Default Q6600 in da house

Sold the good old E6600 and got a Q6600 G0.

9*400 = 3.6 ghz is no problem.
8*450 = impossible @ this moment

Doesnt matter what voltage/vtt/vmch/gtl ref,

Am i missing something....

Hi M8
what strap you trying i bet your after 1:1.25 - 1125, I can't do that but at 1:1.20 It's fine

8x450 21Hr Prime Stable My bios settings are at the end. Hopefully a new bios will make higher starps possible. I've tried once or twice since the above to get 1125 but nothing doing.

thats the problem. @ 1:1.20 the problem remains the same. Cant get the prime95 to run past the 4th test. No matter what voltage. I thought i had a good Q6600 (vid 1.2875). Now priming @ 3.6 9 * 400 DDR1000@4-4-4-15. But tomorrow is another day.............

thats the problem. @ 1:1.20
That's definately strange. Like I said i was quite suprised how low my voltages were for 8x450, have normally had to run higher than 9x400.

Whats your vtt & gtlref ??
I spent some time with guru ocing panel & prime trying to get the optimum gtlref. Evidently it vares with cpu. Finding Optimum GTLRef not sure if it will help.

Mine are
Code:
CPU GTLREF 0+2..................... - 68%
CPU GTLREF 1+4..................... - 67%
might be a starting point for you?

luck

You were right, my mistake. When i set the mem divider to 1:1.20 @ 1080
the problem was solved. Im priming @ 9*450. Looks like anything above 475 is a no go. Still testing.

Hello everyone,

Finding this forum and this thread has been a real boon for me. Not too much info out there on this board right now, and I'm hoping you guys can help me out.

I'm considering the IX38 over the Gigabyte DQ6 due to it's third PCI-E slot. Though I don't have two graphics cards, but I've heard that sometimes there are problems running a non-graphics card in the second PCI-E 16x slot.

I would be putting a SATA RAID card in the Abit's 3rd PCI-E slot (16x physical/4x electrical).

I would be running a 8800GT in the first PCI-E slot. Do you see any possible problems or issues with this setup?

Thanks, olliewbnn. What about if I put the RAID card in the other PCI-E 16x slot? <--normally used by a second video card for SLI/Crossfire.
