Further oddness, but in a more positive way this time.

Something has happened, but I have no idea what, and the board is now working again, with another set of ballistix.

I need to test the other sets in another board to confirm theor deadness. I am not going to speculate as to what killed them, as they have been in the Maximus, and that overvolted the RAM by 0.09v, so it could have been that, who knows?

These are a new set, fresh back from Crucial, so hopefully, these should last a bit longer.

I was looking through the manual earlier, and I found myself laughing at this page Its been a long day .

Default Got mine today

I picked up the IX38 today (Netherlands). I was a AW9D-Max user.
Setup:

E6600 @ 3.6 ghz (9*400) @ 1.4250v
OCZ Ti Alpha @ DDR800 @ 4-3-3-10 @ 2.3v

Trying to get FSB500 on this E6600.

What kind of voltage settings would you recommend ?

Default Dead memory

I'm very interested in the 'dead' ram saga as I have some crucial ballistix tracers PC8500 waiting.

P.S hello to one & all

Hi DM welcome to the forum
AS Clunk says I don't think at this stage it is much of a saga. The D9 memory chips can fail even when showered with love & care. I'm on my 3rd set of Ballistix 8500 having been a very good & gentle owner . The maybe dead set have been in the asus board so if they are dead there's no way to say what did for them.

luck

Well, we all know how easy D9 RAM can die, so dont read too much into it.

The board has a weird way of recovering from a bad overclock, well, it is weird to me, as I mostly use Asus boards. The thing that I have found, is that after a bad overclock, the board can behave as though the RAM is faulty, until the power supply has been switched off for a few seconds, and it does this, even if it restarts and gets all the way to windows.

I think its just a case of me getting used to the board, but we will see

Added a few quick benches to see how high this would go on air - Click here.

running your Q6600 @ 4052 MHz, the temps look really good ...

CPU 33.0ºC
System 34.0ºC
PWM's 45.6ºC (averaged)

I'd like to see your Q6600 temps @ 4052 MHz, running Orthos or Prime95 for a couple of hours.

so far the results on air look better than your attempts with the Maximus

Crucial must love you, how many sticks have you killed to date for all boards !
