Abit IX38 QuadGT - You are in the driving seat...
...headed for the local mental correction facility... said in jest, I love my board really.

Wonder what the slowgun will be for the ?X48, wonder if they will allow us to chose one for them?

More importantly, will the NB HSF from that board fit the IX38?

Hello, im kind of new to ocing and look forward to learn and do so more with an x38 (or perhps an x48?) motherboard in the next few weeks/months. Since i allready am a happy Abit user (AN7..is very old i know), i was hoping Abit's latest foray would live up to the high expectations. Pity it hasnt. I was wondering however, would it be worthwhile to buy one now without ocing it till better firmwares are released? Or is this a too optimistic vision of the board?

Who is by the way top of the X38 pile today? Asus? And who do you think will in the future be on top? Abit?

Cheers!

Hi Emaze,
Sorry nearly missed you. Welcome to the forum . Clunk returned his board, I got mine later & am still running it next door Abit IX38 Quad GT - Living Review II

The package is disappointing but the board is good at least with my components. I'm overclocking better on this than the :-
Asus Commando
Asus P5k Deluxe Wifi
Gigabyte IX38 DQ6

However if you aren't an overclocker you'd probably be better off with the Gigabyte GA X38 DQ6 I can't comment on the Asus as i've not tried it.

luck

hi mbwrx,

welcome to the forum
try Key Posts - 6)Fix For General Instability & No post/Boot Issues before you throw it at the wall. Then follow Clunks advise , if it doesn't work then.

might help to say exactly what PSUs that you have tried e.g. Clunk & others have found out that the Enermax Galaxy series has problems with various mobos.

If you get 7F if you hit F1 does it proceed?

Hi. I've just built my first rig for years, and I'm attempting to OC it - something I haven't done in the past.

I'm not really sure what I'm doing, but I've been trying to get to grips with it over the past few days.

But, have been unable to get even a moderate OC stable, and seemed to be having lots of problems with my RAM. Orthos would be fine with CPU tests, but gave me hassle whenever I introduced the blend test.

So, I changed my ram from Corsair XMS2 6400, to OCZ Reaper 1066, and Initially have had MUCH better results.

My set-up:

E8400 with AC Freezer Pro 7
ABit IX38 QuadGT
4870s Crossfired
4GB OCZ Reaper 1066
Lian Li B25B case
Corsair TX750

This gives me a fairly stable system, and runs Orthos in blend mode for 35 minutes before getting an error.

But, 3D mark crashes upon completion, Crysis Bench crashes during, and UGuru freezes the system on launch.

Could anyone point out where I'm going wrong please?

Hi deem,
Welcome to the forums
Ram issues may well be down to :-
Quote:
DDR2 Voltage: Auto
Auto Voltage uses the Jdec Standard of 1.8v for ddr2. However most performance ram operates at >2.0v. So the ram is undervoltesd and so unstable. There should be a rated voltage shown with your memory, try using that and rerunning the tests.

Let us know how it goes

luck

Thanks very much. My Ram is 2 - 2.1V, so I tried it at 2.2 and got an error after 3 minutes, then tried it at 2 and got an error after 30 minutes...

I also tried upping the MCH, ICH & ICHIO one notch, and the same thing happens.
