Stool FOR THEM!
, Clunk & I are both Abit virgins coming to this board so regretabbly i have too say i've not seen your review on the IP35 PRO.

Prior to getting this board i cast my eye over a few ip35 threads to get some rough ideas of what the bios was like etc.,

I understand what your saying about sweet spots, but clunk & I have had the same issues both with q6600 go processors, which have been faultless in the previous x38 boards. 3.6k with these cpu's is virtually a given, even on air.

It will be interesting to see how your quad goes, in particular what vcore it needs.

I'm wondering atm whether there is some balance between VTT/GTLRef that will allow a lower vcore. I know on my p5k there was more tolerance of a lower vcore when running with CPU PLL(=vtt) of 1.6v & CPU Voltage Ref(=gtlref)

Yep i posted a pic earlier on in my thread showing the scuffed tray due to mobo movement whilst in transit it's on my grouse list

cheers

Not quite an Abit virgin - last Abit I had was the NF7-S v2.0, and before that, there was the KD7 RAID, KT7 RAID, BX6, BH6.

I also understand what gilgamesh is saying about sweetspots, but in this case, the board doesnt allow them, at least not for the moment, and not with a quad.

Has anyone seen anyone posting any stable results using a Q6600 yet? I'm just wondering if the new BIOS had any effect on the >400FSB stability?

Speaking of Abit, how are their customer service btw? After the ASUS experience I will never get a ASUS anything again for a long time, I hope ABIT has better CS?

& if you read that thread Sean didn't say that about the PWM fan clips (he's looking into that) but the USB PCI-slot plate.
At the end of the day though Sean is tech. support & not sales/marketing & he doesn't make policy.

Yes your right i felt a bit sorry for him dumping the high quad vcore question on him this am, he's a good guy who's helped me in the past with abit questions i've had.

Have you seen anything like this on other ABit boards re the Quad vcore. ??

Regarding the clips, you are correct, I was mistaken, and I have fixed it

Regarding the PCI USB bracket, it was you that told me to give "Sean Abit" a shout regarding it

Yes, well at the time we didn't know that it wasn't just a packaging error etc. & Sean is a good (& easily reached) contact for things that are within his remit. It's certainly the first time that I've seen abit ship a high end board without 1 & I suspect that later production will have 1 (pretty sure that somebody cocked up & forgot to put it in the bill of materials rather than a deliberate policy decision not to supply).
I'm sure that if it had just been a packaging error on your board that a plate would have been winging it's way to you foc very quickly.

I'm not sure which is worse, the refusal to supply a part that is needed, or leaving it out in the first place.

Anyway, it doesn't matter who's fault it was, from a customer's point of view, the entire Abit IX38 QuadGTpackage just seems very amateurish.

Supershanks' latest findings just reinforce that.
