Do yours show the same?? I take it the 2nd is southBridge ??
Isn't it 5VSB?
it just shows that the board has standby power connected, the green vcc comes on when the board is running.

Most mobos come out of China these days - Asus certainly have factories there & Gigabyte probably do too.

Hi buff,
Yep it's the 3v standby found it in manual today. I was more concerned when i asked why it was red

Yep would agree re China not being an issue, unless it's a new plant Asus though has certainly had quality issues , notably around chinese made boards.

Black pearl has been good, though to me it's to similar to the p5k for me tro get it, though i think that it was also a limited edition & is now EOL.

Shame, coz I was expecting great things from the Abit X38 board. From reading various reviews & user comments around the net it seems to me these X38 boards require more volts than the P35 boards to reach the same overclock. Also seems like they run hotter than P35's too! Overall I'm disappointed with the results on the Abit iX38, Asus Maximus Formula, & Gigabyte X38 DQ6, they have little to offer over the Abit IP35 Pro, Asus P5K Deluxe, or Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6 in terms of performance, particularly when you take X38 prices into consideration.

Gigabyte wasn't only issue is probably some overtight auto sub timings, can't really say about the maximus.

the trouble with the DQ6 is the 2 pci-e slots.

this is a problem for some ppl, especially me ....crossfire and nowhere for my raid card

something looks wrong with the IX38 from clunks review, nothing a bios can fix i wouldn't have thought either.

A bios fix may be optimistic see post#2

Hey guys,
As others have said, thanks for the review.
I had such high hopes for this board out of the blocks after the IP35pro came out with such a solid first up bios.
I was going to get one as soon as I could down here, but I'll certainly be holding off now.

I mention the china factory thing as I see supershank's Gigabyte X38-DQ6 is from Taiwan and it looks solid and seems to work great but this Abit IX38 and alot of Asus boards are from China and they are all are a very mixed bag, I've read about alot of problems listed against certain Asus boards on the market and also you've got to consider their commitment (Asus) to any one board as they have a million & one & release something every 5 secs and then make it EOL!

Also if you look past just the boards, there are numerous issues in the media and commerical markets with regard to goods that are produced in china, I'm not totally blaming the chinese factories, the individual companies are ultimately responsible and all of them want to make their 'wares' on the cheap, so to speak.

I too was hoping in the Abit IX38 Quad GT, I've decided to still give it a try and see what happens, by the way Yoyotech called me back this morning as promised and are sending me another board today and collecting the other when the other is delivered, now thats what I call service, just like to share that.

Sorry for my rantings.

Peace

Hi Deanzo,
Welcome to forum
I was looking forward to this board, more so than sod lugs who got his 1st

I'm gutted with what's happened so far. Only good thing is i've managed nearly 18 hrs prime @stoclk. (Last time i was testing at this i :-
a) didn't admit it
b) CPU was on blink, seeing the way it goes in Gigavyte I know it ain't issue this time.
This doesn't really give comfort , rather it means the drivers are even worse than I thought.

I've at last got XP stable will ty an oc later. fingers crossed,

Edit:
@DM Hope 2nd board is ok
