Default The inside - Part 3

The Inside - Part 3.

One other minor gripe that I have with the PC-V2110 is the lack of an intake fan for the upper section.

The upper section relies on negative pressure to draw in fresh air through the front 5.25" bays and consequently through the vents in the front door.

The problem with this is that all the negative pressure is created by a single 120mm fan, and a relatively low CFM/RPM one at that.

From testing this kind of design in the past, I found that there were several ways to improve on the stock cooling, but by far the easiest and most effective is to add a 120mm/140mm intake fan in the front drive bays - this can be a low CFM/RPM fan but will greatly improve the airflow and draw in more cool air from outside the case.

(This would be an ideal spot for the fan controller, on the left, next to the on off switch )

The seven 5.25” bays – these are split by an aluminium divider, and that can be removed if needed.

Looking towards the top of the case, there are several wires for the front/top panel inputs, you can also see the sound deadening material on the ceiling and there is an oval hole on the left for cable management.

We have;
  • Power/Reset
  • Firewire
  • USB 2 (There are two of these and each one has two ports)
  • AC97/HD Audio
  • e-SATA (the top connector is e-SATA and on this end it is a standard SATA connector)

Default Conclusion

Conclusion.

The PC-V2110's styling isn't going to appeal to everyone, but even the people that fail to be drawn by the aesthetics can’t fail to be impressed by the build quality and attention to detail.

Lian-Li have set a very high standard for noise reduction and anti-vibration features - From the sound deadening foam that lines the side panels and the top of the case to the special rubber grommets to absorb vibration from the hard drives, fans and power supplies, it’s all incredibly well implemented and if silence is your thing, this may be the case for you.

The standard cooling set up is already good and will work well for most people, but an extra 120mm fan (or two) will take the PC-V2110 to the next level, especially for high end, overclocked systems.

I only had one problem with the overall design of the case, and that was the placement of the fan controller. I feel that this could have gone next to the on/off switch at the front, or better still, they could have included the digital fan controller found on Lian-Li’s other cases – It’s not a big deal, it can be easily rectified and it’s not enough to mark the 2110 down though.

To sum up, if you like the styling, like your PC to be silent and are in the market for a full sized tower with top notch build quality, finish and attention to detail, I would heartily recommend the PC-V 2110, as it’s a beauty.

Pros
  • Build
  • Finish
  • Design
  • Sound Proofing
  • Anti Vibration Features
  • Sheer Space - Great To Work On
  • Comprehensive Top/Front Panel Connections
Cons
  • Fan Controller Placement
  • Lack Of Front Fan For the Upper Section.
  • Quality Comes At A Price!

Awesome case, that soundproofing material on the inner panels looks like the stuff used in recording studios to control reflections and dampen reverb and echo effects to correct a room's acoustic properties, and it's also quite expensive, but i'm sure it is responsible for a good deal of the soundproofing capacity of this case.
This probably is a product that will appeal to people that need a silent workstation, not just enthusiasts.

Oh I didn't think review was so big

Nice Case though , think I prefer the Lian-Li V2010A/B Not to keen on the door.

I just wish that Lian Li would add space at the top so you could add an internal radiator.

I'm digging the sound proofing too, I recently looked into some acoustipack stuff, I noticed a massive variation in price and availability, but I'll start another post about that.

Nice review Clunk

I've soundproofed the hell out of my A17B, between rubber grommits, akasa pax material and silent fan mounts it's as quiet as it gets. I likes it that way
