I just received my EP45-Extreme from Gigabyte as well and remember reading about some components on backside of the board which interfere with the backplate but can't seem to find the post about this ??

I noticed you're using similar air heatsink bolt method for installing the heatsink you used here so did you backplate have issues ? I am trying Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme and the backplate does have issues with the components pictured here

wondering how you got around this ?

Hi George,

Yes here you mean ??

I used the Thermalright FX-10 as shown:-

Which raises the gap a bit between the backplate & mobo which may have helped give a bit more clearance. Still waiting replacement board which I 'm running on water May need to use plastic washers as spacers so backplate is clear of those chips.

yeah that area.. i gave up on TRUE120 air and went with dtek fuzion water without a backplate

darn gigabyte throwing curves...hmmm...the most popular heatsink going and you have gigabyte development engineer in the blind about the number one rated air heatsink.

users have to be careful that they do not space it to much or else the backplate could ground to the case....of course eva, i know you would not let that happen
