difficult to say what's safe max , there's a whole raft of conflicting & wooly data these 2 here are typical:-
q9550 max vcore, temps and burn test
Safe Vcore for Q9550

I'd say for 45nm for 24/7 keep it under 1.40v, should see you ok.

Thanks Shanks - I'll keep it at 3.6Ghz / 3.6Ghz ( 1.38275v ) 24/7 , and leave the higher clocks for fun

Got an e-message back from Gigabyte support about running 8500 memory - noticed they're running F9a bios on their test board - hopefully it will be released soon to the general minions .........

Is that possibly a new intel chipset driver coming for it as well I wonder - Gigabyte drivers page shows 9.0.0.1009 driver as the latest ..........

Do you know where the " Motherboard " temperature is read from in sensors Shanks ?

Since I've put the second 4870 on , it's gone up by 6c and hovers just under 50c even with the side of the case off - I cant work out where Everest is reading it from ( North bridge is reading 41c )

What's the danger temp ?

sorry mate not too certain. easiest way to narrow it down is watch the everest temps & use a small fan to blow on different parts of mobo.

Think I've worked out what's happening - 2nd card is blowing hot air out of the side of it onto the Southbridge ( which I think the mobo temp is read from ) . Took 2nd card out , temp dropped to 41c .
I'll keep the side panel off for a bit
