Yep that's always a good reason for doing as you've done. Like you with most mobos I get I lift the heatpipes to see what's there, have done the same as you several times in bolting things down, much better cooling. Not seen pink TIm much though

you should see how toasty one of the caps get on my biostar I45 when i prime 95 the 9650...i have this samsung temperature measuring instrument...it can do ear or measure the temp of the air when i put in the 'scan' mode.

when the temp goes over 80C, it just says 'Hi', otherwise it gives you actual digital temp...when i ran small FFT's in place, the temp for this one cap went over 80C, so it just said 'Hi'...the PWM heatsink, just above these row of caps, was reading about 45C..this was at the base of the heatsink.

I juist got a temp sensor like that., want to check the celklshock temps , with & without heat spreaders, am a bit twitchy after the recent RMA's Hope I don't see to many

Board itself must be about the coolest I've had. Maximum MCH volts I've used has been 1.50v on the EP45T 4,388 7.5x585@3.33D 1,950Mhz 7-7-7-21

my temp read from the heatspreader on the memory was reading 36c...i try not to remove the spreaders unless the are on there loosely...i removed a heatspreader off a RAMBUS memory stick and the stick went ka-put!...doing that rendered the board completely inoperable since they work in series instead of parallel.

EDIT:...great bench at 585 FSB...i might put my E8500 back in to see how high on the FSB since i have a BETTER understanding of the bios settings.

Yes I always have a digital sensor from my mCubed T-Balancer bigNG on the heat spreaders. With the Cellshock the temps have always been really cool. I'm wondering if the chips aren't cooling properly.

Thanks re the 585, was interested to see if it was doable, strange thing with the DDR3 Extreme is the lack of CPU GTLref, that's why the extra MCH was needed I reckon.

even with CPU GTLREF settings for both cores, the Biostar has a little more difficult time with my extreme Quad....one poster who had a Q9450 has very little problem in overclocking his puppy!
