No worries guys
Have you tested a quafd on the biostar Ace ??
I'm hust playing with one now , having a merry time bottoming out GTL. On the Wolfdales CPU subsystem feels rock solid , it's the memory side that needs attention , with the quad that seems to have reversed.

Oh that's bad news mate
Makes us even I guess, was starting to kick off testing the Gigabyte EP45T Extreme, the ddr3 version of this board , when my cellshock died again ::Hadn't been overvolted or anything. Clunk reckons the heats not shifting through the heatsink last time , I didn't rekon it was that , but reckon it's about the most likely thing , unless the chips are bad . So they won't be back until the end of the coming week week after.

Was tempted to buy a decent set of ddr2 for this board , but seeing Eva's Ram decided not to. Saw these CSX 2GB Kit DDR3-2000 DIABLO which is a decent £ , should be here tomorrow.

i guess you are advising me to get out of the business of trying to measure voltages with a DMM

DARN!...bad news about those cellshock...you know, my GSkill ddr3 memory, which i used on the giga X48T, did not have a tight clamp down for the heatsink!..in fact, they slipped right off as i was attempting to remove them from the slots...i left them off until i sold them.

maybe we're not so steady handed these days , I must admit last time I measured on the X48T I was very wary especially round the cpu socket

Yes the cellshock have like an allen key nuts securing the heat sinks , this is the 14440 set
but the blue is the same. They will be coming off when I get replacements.
I wouldn't mind I use Corsair Dominator Airflow Fan plus 2 x120mm fans here

which intake over memory & CPU

So can hardly say that ram isn't getting any airflow.

what is the operating voltage for those dimms?...didn't you say that you did not go high on the Vdimm with those?

the problem could be that you had a weak IC chip on there and it was just a matter of time powering off and then on which sent it on its merry way!

and yes, i agree with you that your airflow looks VERY adequate!

Personally I found the corsair ram cooler a bit weak in air flow/pressure, i prefer my own custom ram cooling of either

120x25mm thermaltake 81cfm fan
or
3x 60x25mm sunon 23.5cfm MagLev fans tied together
