Default Conclusion

Lian-Li PC-A77 Full Tower Case - Conclusion.

If you're wondering why I haven't built the system up and recorded a series of temperature readings, it is because I believe that there are too many contributing factors for the data to be of any use. Some examples of this would be the amount of, and configuration of hard drives, what kind of cooling was used, room temp and so on. I will be doing a full build thread as a separate article, and as soon as that is up and running, I will link it to this one.

I did a quick, air cooled set up to do a few tests and noise wise, the case performed well, and this was mainly down to the fact that Lian-Li use good quality, low noise Adda fans throughout and these can be further quietened by the Smart Fan Controller.

Air flow through the case is exceptional, and this is largely down to the two, 120mm fans bringing in cool air at the front, and then the two, 120mm exhaust fans expelling air out of the back

Hard drive noise wasn't an issue either with the rubber grommets even subduing my Raptor somewhat. Having said that, the seek noise of the Raptor will always be audible above the fans in this case.

Build quality is awesome, everything comes apart and then fits back together perfectly and there were no sharp edges to speak of, although there were a couple of rough (not sharp) edges on the back of the motherboard tray.

The black anodised finish is quite hardy, although any accidental marks and scratches can be easily fixed with the careful use of a permanent marker.

To sum up, if you need a full tower and you want a stylish, sleek looking case with massive amounts of room and precision build quality, then take a close look at the Lian-Li PC-A77 because it's a bit special.

Pros
  • Looks stunning
  • Excellent Airflow
  • Precision Build Quality
  • Plenty of Room For Water Cooling Gear
  • Holds 9+ Hard Drives
  • Very quiet
  • Lots of extras included
Cons
  • Price - At around £180, it certainly isn't cheap.

Aye, I love this case, I just wish it was out when I was getting all my bits the first time round

I do like the A17 though, it's like the A77's little brother!

Nice review and pics Clunk

Aw man, you got me all wet now.

Looking forward to seeing pictures of the PA120-3 installed and all the other gubbing's off course!
The horizontal support bar looks like it's an add-on rather than being integral.
Great review so far Clunk of what is obviously a well thought out case.

Great Looking case , hope to see some shots of it set up , with a 3x rad fitted , to see what room there is.

Am also wary of the HD Enclosures , have used them before on CM cases , but have only mounted 2~3 drives rather than the 4 maximum. This at least lets some airflow into the case & seems to keep drives reasonably cool. Think I'd prefer to mount the drives 1 to a bay , using side brackets It would be nice to still have the fan at the front blowing in.

How much was the hole cutting ??

The HD enclosures are different to any of the other Lian-Li cases I've used.

There are 3 cages and each cage holds 3 drives.

The cages have 4 hooks per drive in them and you just hook the drive on once you have fitted the 4 grommets and thumbscrews, so it actually sits on the rubber.

They are actually pretty good and hugely better than the G70 where it was metal to metal and it sounded that way. The hard drive cage in the G70 was like an amphitheatre for hard drives
