Please test with 2x1GB modules. Stuff like how much vMch/vNB you need to run CAS 7 @ DDR3-2000 etc etc... I acknowledge the trend to go for higher density modules, but your review using these modules makes it difficult to compare it the other X48 enthusiast mobos. Maybe they're all adept at achieving high clocks, but perhaps the focus should be on efficiency. P5e64 ws evo can do >2000Mhz with under 1.5V on the NB on air. And it's not even marketed as an uber-enthusiast board...

Have you actually read the review? It states that there are three sets of RAM to be tested, and two of them are 2x1GB kits.

The reason I started witrh the 2x2GB modules is that I am reviewing them as well.

Please be patient, I will add the results as soon as possible.

Hi Clunk, very good up dates here on the review.

quick question about the BIOS

PHP Code:
the sticks that I have that worked with the shipping BIOS
Which BIOS did it come with?
I have notice that the board has had one update, the Initial release (X48BD430) and this one (X48BD521)

I will double check for you later, but I suspect it will be the 430.

waves at Clunk... got my DFI LP UT X48-T3RS setup the other day too sent from DFI Taiwan. It came with 5/21 bios out of the box. But get hold of DFI and the 2 versions of 6/4 beta bios (they packaged it as 5/26 beta but it's dated 6/4 beta). DRAM Default Clock skew model options really open up a wide range of possibilities for memory oc'ing and compatibility with different DDR3 ICs

i.e. for my 2x1GB OCZ PC3-14400 Platinum kit - before max 960-970Mhz 8-8-8-24 at 2.15-2.22v and no boot above 970Mhz. Now 1M pi @1010Mhz 8-7-6-24 at 2.15v and max validation @1040Mhz 8-7-6-24 at 2.15v !

First time for me over DDR3-2000Mhz barrier hehe

@DDR3-2080Mhz 8-7-6-24 at 2.15v

Super Pi 1M @DDR3-2020Mhz 8-7-6-24 at 2.15v

Let's compare notes once we figure things out

Nice going there mate, I'm just in the middle of posting my latest results with the shipping BIOS 05/21.

The only notable problem I've had with it so far with regards to the memory is that it won't have CAS 7 at all.

Just cropping my pics and stuff, but this was the tightest I got so far with the 2GB sticks/shipping BIOS.

And this is the highest so far with these, and I reckon theres a little bit more left in them because I'm only at 1.85v.

Added some more tests with the Corsair 2x2GB kit here.

Eva, I forgot to say that I have the 05/26 BIOS, packaged as TTTT

I'm going to give these OCZ 2000Mhz sticks a run later on

There's a new 6/9 beta on DFI site as well - so it's chase the beta bioses time

Still some life left in 05/21 yet, although I don't know how much.

I'm at 460x9.5 1:2 at the moment and it seems to be priming ok with the RAM at 1.86v, but needed 1.5v on the NB to do it.

Any idea what the changes are in the 0906?

I'm not sure what the problem was, but the 0609 on the site wouldn't let me flash using diamond flash.

In the end, I diced with death and used winflash, which stuck at 2% for several minutes and then completed.

Seems ok, so testing 460x9.5 - tried and failed miserably on the shipping BIOS
