No idea about this mate, sounds possibly like it doesn't like your graphics card, could you try it in a different slot just to rule it out, or better still, try another graphics card?

Ok, I tried something else first. I was using a USB floppy drive and a USB cdrom drive with the board,
changed those for a regular floppy and ide cdrom drive and now get past the 1MHz barf barrier.

Got it set at 9*280 atm and it boots up aok, I know it's no record breaking overclock but we appear to
be on the right track.

Are DFI boards always this fussy? This is the first DFI I have had so no experience with them.

I said it was a handful didn't I?

Not all DFI boards are as fussy as this one, this one takes the cake of the recent boards I've used

Maybe they should have named it "DFI UT X48-T3RS ASBO"

Can't remember you saying it was a handful or maybe I just didn't realise what kind of a handful it really is.

I may just use it as my secondary box then and keep the E6600 in it and put the new E8500 that I'm going to buy in the gigabyte X38-DQ6 as it's a nice easy board for clocking, well for my needs that is.

It's ok once you get used to the quirks - I wasn't aware of the USB CDROM issue though.

You should be able to get some good results with the new 8500 though.

It may have been the USB floppy drive or the sandisk USB stick I had plugged into it all at the same time.

I'll see how it goes regards the E8500, just glad to have at least sussed out what was causing it.

Looking good, e6600 running at 3.2GHz. Finding my way around the boards settings now.

The new E8500 will be going in it now.

Can somebody explain what the "Adjust CPU Temp" setting in the PC Health section of the BIOS does and why I would need to change it?

Also I tend to set my motherboards up so that fans are running full whack from the get go, can't seem to get that to work on this motherboard. And I have set them to supposedly come on full at 25C in the PC Health section of the BIOS.

cheers.
