OK, I have fixed the PCI-E issue.

The manual is wrong, and I have to say that I'm quite pleased about it because that means that the PCI-E 16x sockets are really far apart now

I started off with the 8800GT in PCI-E 4 and it was showing 1x, then I moved it to PCI-E 3 and it was still showing 1x. It was only after a CMOS clear that it showed up as 16x in PCI-E 3.

PCI-E 1 & 3 are the 16x slots

Good to hear. #1 and #3 make more sense anyway.

Honestly, if you don't plan on playing Crysis at resolutions of 1920x1080 and beyond, SLI is pretty much useless, and either two of the new upcoming ATIs or 1 of the new nVIDIAs (GTX 260 and GTX 280) will do fine.
It looks that finally ATI has gotten rid of the performance hit with AA enabled that plagued 2xxx and 3xxx boards, since they claim the AA won't be performed by the shaders anymore.
790i makes less sense every day, expecially at that price.

Yeah, that's pretty much my feeling on the issue too, but I do like overkill

The argument going around in my head for sli is that it'd be an "easy" upgrade path further down the line, just to get another card to stick in there. On the other hand, by the time the second card is cheap enough to be a decent upgrade, I can almost guarantee that the card 2 or 3 generations down the line will probably be more powerful as a single card than the two I'd get in my PC, so I'd be better off just replacing the card.

Anyhow, my choice has been whittled down to this DFI T3R, or the upcoming Foxconn Avenger. I like the T3R's cooling solution, and DFI lately appear to be producing good motherboards. I also like the Avenger, particularly for the (extravagant and possibly useless) front bay that you can measure temps, voltages and speeds, as well as change speeds and voltages on the fly. Another thing I lika about the bay is that it's totally unconnected to the OS, it is just a part of the mobo.

Anyhow, I'll have cash in a few days, it's either a game of patience waiting for the foxconn, or give in and buy the DFI as soon as I can get it (imported from germany, or wait a bit for it to become available here).

Hi, bought my board from here Trend4PC - DFI LANPARTY UT X48-T3R DDR3 / Heatpipe 30500255.

The thing is I have a 4GB kit of OCZ PC3-10666 ReaperX HPC Enhanced Bandwidth, CL6 memory,
which seems to have its part to the C1 POST result when I try to boot the system.

I ordered a new set (2x1GB kit) of memory, so I could get my new system to boot and running.

I did some digging too, and there should be a BIOS-update comming, but as someone stated something about already possessing more 2x2GB friendly BIOS version,
I might be in need for that too. ^^'

Welcome to the forums

Did you email me earlier?

I don't have the alpha BIOS, my 2x2GB sticks run fine without it so far
