The 2x2GB sticks are working ok though.
Strange. I'll have to check the PCI-E slots. VID is fine here though.

Is the DDR3 version worth the price over the DDR2 one?
From what I've seen the boards are the same £. Or do you mean the extra cost of the DDR3 ??

In my view DDR3 is worth the move

It's the OCZ 1600 4Gb kit that I had, though I couldn't be sure whether it was problems with the memory, hardware issues with the Asus board or simply BIOS issues that were causing the problems...

The OCZ kits are what I'm hoping will work, as they're (relatively!) cheap, particularly compared to the corsair kits.

Will the board boot with a single stick from any of the 4Gb kits if it's having issues with 2 x 2Gb?

It's not good to hear about the issues you're having Clunk, though they do sound like relatively simple to fix BIOS problems, rather than genuine hardware problems, which is good to know.

Whatever motherboard I get, it'll be paired with a 4Gb kit of memory that works, along with a QX9650, and a 9800GTX, though that will hopefully be swapped out for a GTX 280 when they come out, through EVGA's rather expensive step up procedure. It's a bit disheartening to see the CPU, GPU, and the other bits sitting in an empty case, waiting to jump to life when I get a mobo and memory again!

Keep up the good work Clunk

No. One stick produces the same results and the OCZ 1600 4Gb Platinum was one of the sets I tried. The board gets stuck at C5h although the onboard display will show it as C1h. With this test BIOS all the sets boot fine.

Gutted... Well, should I go for this board I hope it'll work with the memory. I know only one person who has DDR3, so I might be able to borrow a stick from him should I need it. We'll find out if/when I get the board I guess

For future reference, the sticks that I have that worked with the shipping BIOS are these Corsair DDR3-1600 2x2GB.

woooooooo I was about to pull the plug on the UT DDR3 board, bit if it is having issues maybe I should wait a couple of weeks or get the UT DDR2 board if it is not having problems as the DDR3 board is having.

It is definitely in need of a BIOS update, but I suspect that one will be along very soon to fix the issues.

The issues aside, mine is clocking well, and likes the 2x2GB kit that I'm using.

Praz,

Did you get a chance to check your PCI-E link width for PCI-E 3 and 4?

I have suffered confusion in my mind today

This is what the manual says.

From that, I'm understanding that PCI-E 1 and 4 are the 16x slots.....right?

I get 4x max in PCI-3 and 1x max in PCI-E 4.

I got a reply from DFI telling me that PCI-E 1 and 3 are the 16x slots
