Nice to see you making progress. DS/DDS being off one value can be the difference between a 400 FSB wall and reaching 500 FSB with ease.

You have found one of the strengths of this board but also its weakness. This really applies to most any current DFI board with the latest BIOS. Having all these settings available is great but they shouldn't require user intervention unless pushing hardware to the edge or because of a compatibility issue. An auto setting that works well with the option of changing to manual is what the BIOS needs. Don't know if we will ever see it on the these boards though.

Aye, that's pretty much what I read on the OCZ forum... The mod there was lamenting that many motherboard BIOS programmers are opening up a lot of options that were previously programmed by them to be automated. Like you said, it's a double edged sword: more control for people to take their boards that little bit further, but often a frustration when it causes system instabilities when set incorrectly.

I'm so glad I found it though, I hope that this is the start of really getting to know the board... we'll see how it goes from here.

Try using the 400/1333 strap as that is the only strap i can use with my corsair ram and i use the green slots also.

This is the option you're looking for matey:

On a slightly different note, what would you guys reckon if you had 5 errors in memtest over a 7-8 hour period, but prime95 was stable at tighter memory timings for 8 hours or more?

I'm tempted to consider that stable... but the memtest errors bug me a little.

Default RAM?

I`m looking for new ddr3 sticks for my rig. Currently using ocz ddr3 16000 eb . I`m going to upgrade to 4 GB and was thinking of corsair domintor or patriot viper running at 1800 MHz (450 was rock solid at 400/1600 strap, was trying to copy some of Praz`s settings (lovely 8x500 but my e8500 was not able to do that, 8/21 bios). Any ideas, please ?

And the second thing: when using n/2 activated I was not able to reach equal cpu`s frequency at lower fsb... I think that`s really strange - 4.275 MHz on 475 fsb stable and same frequency with 450 fsb - hangs several times. I checked memory with memtest and in both situations no errors...
