hey clunk. do you know where i can get a cpu back plate i did noobish and threw it away.. so the cpu is just floating... cause on the 939 all you had to do was put the lever down so it held the pins down but i just was in a hurry to get the darn cpu and heat sink on that i threw the metal square back plate that goes around the cpu to hold it down. so when i put the heat sink on it wont shift around... uggggg what a nooob... u must have like an extra 775 around dat is not working ... or know someone does.. I NEED help... darn computer shops arond here dont have extra one.. ima keep looking for more of the shops around.

Hmmm, try creating a support ticket to DFI, they might be able to supply you with one

It's probably unlikely anyone will have a spare one, as any non working motherboards would still be in warranty, and so would probably be sent back to DFI rather than be lying about. That said, you might get lucky!

Do you mean one of these?

If so, you can buy them from pretty much any retailer.

I think Xigmatec sell a similar thing, as do Zalman and D-Tek.

Ah, if it's one of those, yeah, you get them with many heatsinks, or like Clunk said you can get them separately. I somehow thought you meant the bit that clamps the cpu itself down to the socket... I had a look at the screenies clunk has at the start of the article, but I can't see a decent view of what I meant, the plastic socket cover is in the way :P

You mean the metal part that has the lever and locking mechanism on it?

Why did you take that off?

An RMA will probably be somewhere in the $30.00 - $40.00 range for the socket plus whatever labor fee is added. Not sure what would prompt someone to remove that much less throw it away.
