Yup figured that one out the hard way.
What I'm really curious about is why I can't even get into windows with the 400/1600, and why its telling me I have a hardware error. I mean there must be a real behind the scenes change in the BIOS that causes this problem just from switching from 333/1333.

Don't have an answer. Although you're not seeing it, 400/1600 is the best strap/ divider there is for this board. You may try different CAS/tRD combinations.

I get odd problems with 400/1600 too, mainly not being able to get into windows. Usually I get the white block bar that goes across, then windows complains that one of the system files is corrupt. I get it lots with other straps too, I take it as a bog standard overclock error, 'cause if I go back stock the system boots fine, so I don't think anything is actually corrupted, it just corrupts somwhere along the line once it's read from the hd (pure speculation...).
I have managed to fix it at some point, but I can't for the life of me remember what I did. Like I said before, I'm running at standard FSB at the moment, I'm not bothering with clocking it until a better bios comes out for quads.

Ok....total weridness.
I remembered back in my 609 experience that I was using the green slots for everything.....after everyone convinced me that the yelow were the way to go, I switched to them after flashing to 725.
So I plopped my sticks back into the green slots....it boots into windows for me now 400/1600 divider.
memtesting now to see if it is stable....all timings on auto except 7-7-7-24 1T.

Does any1 else seem to be hitting a wall with bus speeds above 420? I can run at 420 x 10 with 1.32v load 1.34v idle with no problems and as soon as i go above i get bsod and freezing in windows and at load up. I have raised my v-core up to 1.38v with the same result. I have my gtl`s disabled because i passed occt with them like that and all i needed to do was raise my vtt to 1.16v after my 1st fail. I thought it could be my ram but it does it on two other straps but at the same time passes memtest. So could it just be the bios causing this for now or has anybody got any other ideas?
Cheers Paul

Hard to say without knowing the BIOS settings as Clunk said. But to take a guess sounds like you are using 333/1333. If so 420 FSB or so is about the end of the road.
