Welcome to the forums

I have used the TRUE and that memory together without any problems.

I haven't used the HR-05 IFX, but I have used the standard HR-05 and that obscures the top PCI-E slot.

We are talking about the Thermalright True Black 120 right?

HR-05 and the IFX version are about the same size(IFX only 1mm deeper) so it should fit? Or was it a tight fit?

How does this mobo cope with crossfire, i was thinking of buying one 4870x2 now and another later

What cpu would you recommend? I was thinking of Q9540 but i head that it wont overclock that well on this mobo. Any suggestions?

Mines the silver TRUE

Well, the HR-05 does fit, but as I say, it covers the top PCI-E slot, which isn't a problem if you use a single graphics card - but as you are going for crossfire, I wouldn't use the HR-05 SLI - the non-SLI might fit.

I'll let someone else comment on the crossfire, I haven't tried that.

CPU depends what you need from it. At the moment, I'm loving the higher FSB that the wolfdales are giving, but this board doesn't seem to like high FSB much (500+).

The E8600 looks tasty too!

I think the board could see 550 FSB with some BIOS work. But right now it's held back from two directions. The only setting that really works is the 400/1600. However that necessitates running the memory in excess of 2000MHz. Most users don't have memory that will run at that speed. And those of us that do find out pretty quickly that the board can't hold the memory at those kind of speeds. Once the other straps/dividers are sorted we should see additional FSB scaling.

I found a picture of a X48-T3R and it has the HR-05 installed http://www.hardware.info/images/news...FI-X48-T3R.jpg

It aint the same mobo but isnt the layout same? If it is(what i think) i cant see it covering any slots

Im building this pc for gaming and the cpu shouldnt be a bottleneck for my gpu:s

Looks very close to the RAM slots, but might be the camera angle.

I think it may be very close as to whether a TRUE will fit on at the same time as that.

Works for me

You shouldn't need that much NB voltage for that overclock. Maybe 1.4 or less I would think.
