looks like 2x1GB PC3-16000 aren't micron d9 based them if model 3 doesn't work for you? tried model 1 or 2 ?

looks like DFI promoted 6/9 to official bios downloads page http://www.dfi.com.tw/Support/Downlo...FLAG=A&SITE=US and now out of beta

I think a few posts back you said the OCZ 2x1GB sticks might be samsung? That might make more sense for the model 0 then.

I had to leave it for tonight, but I will try 1&2 tomorrow, and I will also try those Corsair 2x1GB, which I think may be Micron.

Well, I've ordered a T3R from germany, as they *still* don't seem to be available properly in the UK :P

Memory will have to wait for a week or so till I get paid, and I'm not sure if I should go the whole hog and get that 4Gb 2000mhz OCZ kit, or get a (much cheaper) 1600mhz kit and overclock them...

That, and the whole graphics card debate that's going on in my head. Step up from a 9800GTX to a GTX280 and get royally stung by EVGA in the process, or sell the 9800 on ebay and get me a 4870... or 2 of the bloody things, considering the price of the GTX280!

£320 if I get them from memoryc.com, £270 if I get them from the US. The 1600mhz ones would be £150 for the 7-7-7 ones, £190-200 for the 7-6-6. It's pretty impressive considering that just over a month ago I was considering spending £270 on the 1600 7-6-6 kit!

I don't mind getting the memory imported, if I get stung for vat I'd only pay what I'd pay here anyway, and RMAing OCZ memory means sending them to OCZ in the US anyways, so that's not really an issue.

These guys might be able to provide you with an updated BIOS chip without having to get a new stick of RAM to get in and flash it yourself:

BIOS CHIP: ASUS MSI GIGABYTE ABIT DFI ECS BIOSTAR..more on eBay, also Mother BIOS Chips, Motherboards, Desktop PC Components, Computing (end time 17-Jun-08 09:02:26 BST)

I've emailed them already to find out if they can do one for th T3R, I thyink it should be possible. Mine should arrive sometime next week, and unless the OCZ Reaper 1333 ram he has can boot ok, I'll have to get one of these from ebay methinks.

Welcome to the forums

Try different RAM, flash the BIOS to a new version, or contact DFI directly and see if they can send you a new BIOS chip.

The shipping BIOS doesn't like CAS 7 modules, and that appears to be what yours are.

Absolutely buy one or 2 4870, the GTX 280s are needed only if you want to max out Crysis and you'll need 2 anyways and it won't be enough at 1920x1200 or 1680x1050.
So, i say why bother if the 4870 will max out any other game out there?
Unless you live for Crysis.

P.s.: The GTX 280 will suck 236 W at full load (just the card, not the system). The 4870 is rumored to be around 150-160 W. The electric bill is a factor i take into account when i buy a component.
