But I am getting quite a big range difference between my cores. I was getting this before even with the OEM heat sink and Arctic Ceramique, but the range seems even greater now. Does that mean I have uneven thermal paste?

I primed the bottom of the heat sink and used a dab of OCZ Freeze as per the instructions. My cores under full load are 50C/53C/48C/43C. With the OEM heat sink and Arctic Ceramique it was 59C/56C/59C/63C under full load. It never seemed to be quite even before, and I tried reapplying a few times to see if I could even it out and reduce temps.

What do you think???

BTW...it's much easier to use the LGA775 clips with this heat sink as opposed to the OEM one, but it was a pain to get the fan attached afterward!
do not worry abouyt the difference in temps..those DTS sensor are renowned to be off at the low end of the spectrum...Intel will tell you that the sensors were designed to throttle or shut down the cpu if an extreme overheat occurs!...accuracy at the low to middle range is not what they were designed for...you have to decide which is the most accurate for the conditions.

glad you got the same results as i did from XIGMATEK 1283...i really like it!

i used plastic ties to attach the fan to the heatsink..i made two catercorner loops for the fan and then slide them on to the heatsink; then i tightened.

Hi drwtsn32,
good news , be good if you could post this feedback here as well Xigmatek HDT S1283 CPU Cooler , gives other folk some extra feedback thanks

The advantage of using a backplate is that you can adjust the retraining bolts in turn to help even out the temps. see Proper Quadcore water block mounting technique although for waterblocks it describes the principles of getting more even cooling.

Could you Add Your System Specs To Your Profile! please , we don't know what quad your running for example.

cheers

Thanks guys... and I added my system specs to my profile.

Still haven't had a chance to push my QX9650 beyond the 8x400 I'm currently running. Think I can push it to 4GHz on air?

Cheers , as Ace says the 45nm Cpu sensors are notorious check out Unclewebb's thread Realtemp about sensors , to see.

Your probably best running a FSB of around 450 and a memory divisor of 4.00 (use B or D straps)
that will give you a ram speed of 4x450=1800Mhz Adjust your multi to suit your CPU & temps you feel comfortable with. eg 8x450=3600 7.5 x450 = 3375 etc.,
For memory suggest you try these timings :-

Code:
Standard Timing Control
CAS Latency Time (tCL)............: 9
DRAM RAS# to CAS# (tRCD).........: 8
DRAM RAS# Precharge (tRP).........:8
Precharge Delay (tRAS)............: 24
Advanced Timing Control
ACT to ACT Delay(tRRD)............: 10
Rank Write to READ Delay (tWTR)...:23
Write To Precharge Delay (tWR)....:22
Refresh to ACT Delay (tRFC).......: 60 (see note1)
Read To Precharge Delay (tRTP)....: 7
Static tREAD Value (tRD)..........: 8
Static tREAD Phase Adj............: Auto
Command Rate (CMD)................: 1

DDR3 OverVoltage Control...(1.50v): +0.30 to +0.35v (eg 1.80~1.85v)
Note1 This ram likes high values of TRFC 60 should be ok , but if it's still unstable try 65 or even 70

let us know how you get on

good luck

supershanks

Tks, for your help

I Update the Bios to F6a

I did try this settings, but i have stability problems.

then i change also the CPU Voltage Control to 1.3875V and now finally Vista/XP started.

I did get 455FSB, with 4.00D, but i need to run Prime95 to see if this is a stable overclock.

About cpu voltage can you comment if my setting is a safe one for 24/7?

I´m getting in Core temp 65 54 58 54.
and in Real temp 60 49 51 49.

Regards

should be a safe enough voltage temps assuming that's load look ok.
run prime blend & see what fails , check out Using Prime if you ned more info.

If cpu fails try upping FSB termination a notch. If ram try vdimm up a notch.

I test but i´m still crashing, the problem is with RAM, i tried prime using large Ram and get BSOD.

The only time that it stay working until BSOD was when i put:

DDR3 OverVoltage Control...(1.50v): +0.40 (1.90v)

but i has afraid to go any high than that.

In conclusion i can´t get at least 450FSB.

I have 2 GB of this ram:
OCZ Technology | Products | Memory | OCZ DDR3 PC3-16000 Platinum Enhanced Bandwidth Edition

I read that with 1.9v i´m invalidating warranty.

Any sugestions?

tks for your help.

What is the max MCH and FSB voltage this board can take with stock Northbridge cooling? Wan't to push my X48T Rev: 1.3 to 450FSB with my Q9450

Hi zeerax,
Welcome to the forum
FSB voltage = vtt , max volts depends on what cpu your using , as you've not told us can't help.
It doesn't impact the NB cooling.
if your NB starts getting warmish best thing to do is add a fan, which is pretty easy see Mounting a fan on the Northbridge

Cheers. My cpu is a Quad Q9450. At the moment I have it running at 3.2Ghz 400FSB and it requires a Vcore of 2.8 at the moment to keep it stable. I have +0.1 on the FSB and +0.1 on the MCH.
