Yes core temp is on 105C by default ie +10C to correct it edit the settings.ini file see Coretemp
I didn't have to edit the Core Temp INI file.. you can set the offset right from the GUI now. At least with version 0.99.2

One thing that bugs me about CoreTemp is that it reports my CPU FSB incorrectly. It says 355.57MHz when it should be 400MHz. CPU-Z shows the correct FSB.

I tried RealTemp...seems to agree exactly with CoreTemp as long as the Tj Max setting is correct.

Yes it is , the main difference is that realtemp was right before coretemp. Unclewebb developed realtemp specifically due to the temperature issues around wolfdale.

i tried the XIGMATEK 1283 and i like it...the direct touch concept with the heatpipes appears to be a good concept; especially when you are priming it...the heat transfer will occur quicker in my mind when compared to the TRUE 120 heatsink.

have you given it a spin

I have some questions if any one whants to help me.

My specs:

- Antec P182
- LC Power 850W PSU
- Intel Q9450
- Thermalright 120 Extreme + 140mm Noctua 18Db Fan
- GigaByte GA-X48T-DQ6
- OCZ PC3-16000 PLATINUM EB 2000MHZ 9-8-8-28 2GB (1.8V)
- ATI X300 (waiting for 4870x2)
- Audigy 2 ZS
- 1 x Seagate 120 Gig Sata II
- 1 x Maxtor 350 Gig Sata II
- ASUS MK241H, 24 LCD
- UPS 1000VA
Vista x64 and XP Pro Dual Boot.
Board revision 1.1
Bios –F4

Now the questions

I want a good setup for 24/7 Overclock on Air, (arround 3.6MHZ or even a little more)

- What is the best Bios? (i have the F6a is it good for overclock or F5d is better?)
- should i make any voltage modification.?
- hould i make any voltage modification to my memory, i read in some place that if i left my memory (that is 1.8v) with

Default motherboard voltage(The default (Auto) voltage is 1.50v), i will have stability problems. ( the only problem i have

is some times i get a Blue Screen in Vista x64 or it simply hangs. I already made test with ortos and meme test and the

memory always repot ok, with no errors. In the test the PC never hangs. Could it be this because of the low voltage setting

in the memory?)
-what are the maximum voltage for a 24/7 usage?
-What is the memory divider i should use? ( i have DDR3 2000MHZ) normaly i use 1600FSB the x.xxD option in:

System Memory Multiplier (SPD)
2.00A, 2.50A, 3.00A, 4.00A, 2.00D, 2.66D, 2.00B, 2.40B, 3.20B, 2.66C, 3.33C, 4.00C
x.xxA -> FSB 266Mhz
x.xxB -> FSB 333Mhz
x.xxC -> FSB 200Mhz
x.xxD -> FSB 400Mhz

-Can any one put reference settings that i shoul use in the bios?

Hi Kivan.
Can you please copy your specs into your profile thanks

Your probably best running a FSB of around 450 and a memory divisor of 4.00 (use B or D straps)
that will give you a ram speed of 4x450=1800Mhz Adjust your multi to suit your CPU & temps you feel comfortable with. eg 8x450=3600 7.5 x450 = 3375 etc.,
For memory suggest you try these timings :-

Code:
Standard Timing Control
CAS Latency Time (tCL)............: 9
DRAM RAS# to CAS#  (tRCD).........: 8
DRAM RAS# Precharge (tRP).........:8
Precharge Delay (tRAS)............: 24
Advanced Timing Control
ACT to ACT Delay(tRRD)............: 10
Rank Write to READ Delay (tWTR)...:23
Write To Precharge Delay (tWR)....:22
Refresh to ACT Delay (tRFC).......: 60 (see note1)
Read To Precharge Delay (tRTP)....: 7
Static tREAD Value (tRD)..........: 8
Static tREAD Phase Adj............: Auto
Command Rate (CMD)................: 1

DDR3 OverVoltage Control...(1.50v): +0.30 to +0.35v (eg 1.80~1.85v)
Note1 This ram likes high values of TRFC 60 should be ok , but if it's still unstable try 65 or even 70

let us know how you get on

good luck

Ok, I got the XIGMATEK 1283 installed and it dropped my temps quite a bit, plus it is completely silent even when under full load. Nice

But I am getting quite a big range difference between my cores. I was getting this before even with the OEM heat sink and Arctic Ceramique, but the range seems even greater now. Does that mean I have uneven thermal paste?

I primed the bottom of the heat sink and used a dab of OCZ Freeze as per the instructions. My cores under full load are 50C/53C/48C/43C. With the OEM heat sink and Arctic Ceramique it was 59C/56C/59C/63C under full load. It never seemed to be quite even before, and I tried reapplying a few times to see if I could even it out and reduce temps.

What do you think???

BTW...it's much easier to use the LGA775 clips with this heat sink as opposed to the OEM one, but it was a pain to get the fan attached afterward!
