Confirmed.. I flashed with the 7/21 F5 BIOS available on Gigabyte's site and it worked fine!

yea someone did said it also BRICKED his system. I have one on RMA and bought a new MB also, think i will wait for the F6 release as F5 does not do anything for me as i dont have the E0 stepping cpu. COLD FEET due to one bricked already..

don't blame you!

i finally sold my board, memory and a Q6600...it wasn't due to the bad bios...i had mine already back in the box before the bad bios came out....i think i had F5D installed.

looks like gigabyte put out an updated "F5" offical bios and they have a special "FLASHSPI.EXE" and Autoexec.bat included...so...no "Qflash" is my impression to get F5 flashed...might be the problem; that is the built-in Qflash program...if they changed the boot block and Qflash doesn't update that area, that would cause your bios to continuously to loop.

I used Qflash to update my bios to F5 and it works fine.

hi to all!the f5 killer bios at 18/07/08 killed my x48t!i sent the board back because it has guarranty!and they give me a new one 1.3 revision!THE old one was 1.1rev.....so the new f5 that realised at 21/07 is safe or not?who knows....i see that in the bios the default settings at 1.3rev. with f4 for these are:
Refresh to ACT Delay (tRFC).......: 74
Read To Precharge Delay (tRTP)....: 5
Static tREAD Value (tRD)..........: 6
and the system temp with default settings is 49c
with 1.1 rev the default settings with f4 for these was:
Refresh to ACT Delay (tRFC).......: 72
Read To Precharge Delay (tRTP)....: 6
Static tREAD Value (tRD)..........: 7
and the system temp with default settings was 42c
now with 1.3 rev. my computer starts one time!with 1.1 rev. it started then closed and then started again!something like 2 boots!i think i will go to f5a or f5d but i cant resist to try f5(if it works) i found f5a more stable at o/c than f5d!

Hi UNSTABLE_HERO,
Welcome to the forum
Well apart from the inconvenience of being without a board , sounds like things are better for you

i'ts up to you, at least there is now a way to recover , if you look back at earlier posts.

Myself I'd stick with F5A until I saw F6

cheers
