Hi erex,
Thanks for posting the Memset pics, it helps.

With the Tras I was suggesting you change it from 20 to 24. Slackening that timing may give a little more stability.

From the memset you can see your Performance is 6 try changing that in bios (see tRD) to 7.

Quote:
Interestingly, performance levels are different (6 and 7) with bios F5d
Yes you see the different values on channel A & B quite often. Think it optimises performance/stability.

You probably don't need to do both. I'd try the Tras = 24 first , then if that does not work the tRD.

Any hard drive errors may be caused by memory issues.

Have a nice vacation

Hiya folks, keep the good work up!

Have recently assembled my new computer (see sig for specs).

My aim is to overclock the setup without having to add any more cooling, currently in a NZXT Tempest case with 5x 120mm case fans.

Before I start, I removed the northbridge silentpipe cooler and added abit of artic silver thermal paste, I didnt like the look of the plastic(?) ones that came with the board.. and without having upped the (G)MCH OverVoltage, I think its abit hot (this when tweaking in bios), although I can hold my finger on it for more then 10s .

Anywho back to my problem! :<

Currently I cant apply kind of change to the following settings in the "MB Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T.) section without the computer rebooting an extra time and disabeling them (and running factory defaults).

Changes in these fields cause a reset, marked with an R.

MB Intelligent Tweaker (MIT)
Robust Graphics Booster: (unchanged) (auto)
CPU Clock Ratio: (R)
CPU Host Clock Control: (R)
CPU Host Frequency(Mhz) : (R)
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) : (R)
C.I.A.2: (unchanged) (disabled)
Performance Enhance : (unchanged) (standard)
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) (R)
Memory Frequency(Mhz): 1066
DRAM Timing Selectable : (Auto)
Standard Timing Control
CAS Latency Time: : 5
DRAM RAS# to CAS# : 7
DRAM RAS# Precharge : 7
Precharge Delay(tRAS) : 24
Advanced Timing Control
ACT to ACT Delay(tRRD) : 4
Rank Write to READ Delay : 4
Write To Precharge Delay : 8
Refresh to ACT Delay : 68
Read To Precharge Delay : 4
tRD : 6
tRD Phase Adjustment : 0
Command to #CS Timing: : 2
Clock Driving and Skew Control
CPU/PCIEX Clock Driving Control : 800mV
CPU Clock Skew Control : Normal
(G)MCH Clock Skew Control : Normal
System Voltage Control Maual
DDR2 OverVoltage Control : +0.3
PCI-E OverVoltage Control : Normal
FSB OverVoltage Control : Normal
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control : Normal
Loadline Calibration : Auto
CPU Voltage Control : Normal
Normal CPU Vcore : 12000

I was able previously to OC to 3.6 ghz (400 x 9) but forgot to set the System voltage control to manual, so the motherboard set the vcore to close to 1.5 and cpu temp rose to 70 celcius. Has the cpu or motherboard been damaged perhaps?

I can stil boot into windows @ 3.16 ghz and everything works fine.

But now after having reset the motherboard and disabled C1E and speedstep I cannot change anything of the settings marked (R) without a restart and them beeing reset to disabled.

It even resets if I just enable CPU Host Clock Control and leave fsb at 333.

Any suggestions? Any additional information needed from me?

Best regards
Marcus

hi mjanota,
welcome to the forum.
think it's your memoryt tht's the issue.
Corsair Dominator 8500C5DF

1)
Quote:
Specified voltage 2.2V
Your settings are only at
2.1v (1.8v jdec +0.30v Overclock)
2) Try putting all timings on auto

Then try and see if you can change the R features
Use Memset or read from the SPD column in the bios to see what your timings are. Pay special attention to tRD (performance level in memset) as having this too tight causes resets,/ no posts

Let us kno whow that goes .

luck

Im sorry for the bad layout of my bios settings.

All memory settings are on auto, those numbers I typed in are those that are set automatically by the motherboard

Regarding the voltage, its kind of strange, if I let it be Normal, according to "PC Health Status". DDR18V is at 2.128v, I'v read the board puts in 1.8v, so I manually added +0.3 to reach 2.1.

Would you recommend me to put in +0.4v to reach 2.2? and then try ?

Currently at 100% defaults with C1E and EIST disabled.

I cant change any of the (R) marked values without a reset. As I wrote earlier, cant even just enable CPU Host Clock Control and leave FSB at 333.

Thanks for helping
Marcus

yes i'd try & see if the voltage at +0.40v makes a difference.

If not then i'd remove the power lead & put a jumper across the Clr_Cmos pins & leave it there for 10 minutes or so. Remove it and try agian see how it works then.

If it's ok I 'd reflash the bios.
If it's not ok then I'd repeat the above clear cmos but this time remove the battery.

1) Upping the ddr2 voltage to +0.4v <- did not work
2) removing the battery for 10 minutes <- did not work

EDIT: I even tried underclocking the CPU by lowering the FSB, stil didnt work.

EDIT: Gonna try updating the bios to F7 beta and then reset bios.

Further ideas are very welcome! :<

EDIT: under Advanced Bios Features, the EIST option is gone?! and I can now change multiplier and FSB. I kind of want the EIST function disabled, but perhaps that was what caused the previous resets?

EDIT: Same problem now, but it didnt appear after I changed anything in the overclocking section, but rather after I had changed boot order of harddrives, enabled raid, enabled USB mouse and keyboard support, disabled the parallel port device + the device that start with 13xx something. Gonna give it a go again without touching it.. update in 10!

Edit: Currently trying what did it for Funky http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/19037-post303.html
