I've noticed something else odd the PWM CPU light cuts out juast after post screen "Verify DMA" message & stays out, rate this is going at the minute , might also be a return for the Lans & now the pwm led

i am in the process of RMA'ing it...personally, i would like to try the Asus X48 board..more expensive but i am willing to pay more if the online retailer gives me full credit for the refund...the site says 15% restocking fee regardless if it is DOA or defective...i presume they say that to force you into an exchange...i guess that i will have to call them to see if they will give me a complete refund for the price of the board....if not, i will take an exchange...it is a very good board except for the LAN problem that you are having...have you flashed to the official bios?

if i have to accept the Giga X48 back, i will make sure the LAN's work

Well finally got my network back up, with the new wifi pci card. Wasn't helped by the fact tit had shipped with the wrong software & drivers.

It shipped with the official bios & I flashed to 1.4f so I'd asssumed the bta was later ??

Well will be interesting to see how you get on whatever you get

thought someone was asaying that the DFI x48 ddr3 was available your side of the pond?? You don't fancy that ??

settled on exchange since the online retailer was not willing to deal.

the asus board appears to be a bit flaky in the early stage...probably needs further bios maturity...DFI's option is not my piece of cake...the bios can be overwhelming with those memory settings...i do like simplicity and gigabyte is definitely into that.

yep i saw a few posts about the premium, It's relatively early days for both boards, Given the delays it might have been a reasonable expectation for more mature bios from both companies. Using the Official bios I get 1 working ethernet link, which isn't good , so am sticking with the wifi solution, hoping they eventually get it sorted.

Hoping to get some ocing done but 1800 stable doesn't look to probable on what i've seen so far

there is a guy over in XS forum who took his GSkill memory to DDR3-2000 speed on 1.9v...i had to use 2.0v to get to 1736...just goes to show you that you and i don't have the good memory to make it up there...all this stuff is the luck of the draw and some finessing, which has eluded me so far!

NO, that is not good...now, i had a similar problem with my DFI X38 board with only one LAN working out of the two!...finally got both to work...it either had to do with the crazy way they like to provide auxillary power to the PCIe bus with those two additional 5/12v power sources or it was all about the bios...never really got a grasp on why it started to work again...i had flashed the bios with a beta and maybe that is what it will come down for you; a newer bios release....of course, both LAN's operating at the same time is not going to enhance your bandwidth...i tried that with no success.

No , I'm just being bloody minded, they both should work. your right though about the possible reasons, I've also seen pressure on the chipset or even an overtight mountiing screw cause the loss of the item, probably a new bios fix though as you say.

I'm just looking to get a stable 3.6k as a starting point , usually would go for 450x8 to give 1800mhz memory on the 4, but can't get the memory stable at that yet. Managed it ok on the Asus p5e3 so it's a bios isssue again. So I'm after 9x400 with 1600Mhz 7-6-6-18. Just got occt stable, will prime overnight.

Well has taken a bit longer than normal , but have about bottomed the usual Q6600 9x400 clock I think. Was going to prime it today , but the postman bought an E8200 that i'd ordered to go in the wife's PC. Well I've got to test it for her haven't I Muhahaha

So the Q6600 clocks will wait for a bit

So just to make sure it works I'll run a few clocks

Started off at 8x400 with 4.00B divider giving DDR3 1600Mhz timings are as I'd sussed out for the Q6600 clocks 7-6-5-18 1.85v

Didn't start to good though wprime ran fine , 32M SuperPi bombed
