Soirry for some reason didn't get notification of new posts , so am a bit late to the game.

@mid9sun Yes I'd agree with PaPa SuMrF
What settings are you running ?? you can also try Memtest HCI to test your ram.

Hello,
I'm new on this great forum (of course, becaouse of you all).
I'm not a hard overclocker but, I want my qx9650 to work @ 4 Ghz on GA-X48T-DQ6 with OCZ3P16004GK.
So far, I have only achieved 3.6G. but it is not stable under Everest ultimate 4.50 stability test.
I'm using Vista 64 bit

I hope you can see my rig details on my profile.

Any help and comment will be appreciated

Regards.

Hi erex,
welcome to the forum

Try:-
Quote:
DDR3 OverVoltage Control...(1.50v): +0.35
go to +0.40v
If these are your modules they need 1.90v so overvolt = 1.90-1.50 = +0.40v

I'd get Memtest HCI & give your memory a decent rest at the higher voltage. Hopefully that should do the trick.

let us know how it goes

supershanks, thank you for your quick response.

Answers to your recommendations:
-Yes my ram set is as you told: PC3-12800 1600Mhz (2+2) 4G
-Yes I tried 1.50 + 0.40v before, the result was the same.

Memtest HCI is running now for 45 min. There is no error yet.

I'm using F4A bios now. I tried F5A beta before and turn back to F4A. Do you recommend any other beta bios to try ?

Anoher story is: I installed Vista x64 with AHCI enabled bios, than turn back to IDE as microsoft defines how to do.
Error message when you start a Windows Vista-based computer after you change the SATA mode of the boot drive: "STOP 0x0000007B INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE"

Regards.

F5D works well see link in post#1
I missed that you were running 2x2gb sets, that might ber your issue .
Try a single pair & check stability.
If you check in the manual P12 Note2 -
Quote:
Each channel can only fit one memory module when using DDR3 1900/1600 MHz memory
module
An alternative would seem to be drop the FSB to 395 & re-test I think this is a chipset thing rather than a particular gigabyte issue. Official DDR3 support is limited to 1600.

Did that fix the hd access change then ?? Not sure why you changed back AHCI is faster than IDE with more features.

luck

I flashed to F5D and tried single stick.. tried 10x400 and 10x380.. Vista starts and when any program started, than vista crashes.

I'm still using 9x333= 3Ghz, everything is at default value, no problem with 2 sticks of ram. Interesting, memset shows CAS 7-7-7-20 @1.78v

I think I must use some strange values for ram settings which I already don't know.

Why I canged back to IDE ?
I've read something about "Vista x64 + AHCI + Overclock" can be a problematic setup. I assumed that could be the problem, but problem still exist, as you mentioned.

Regards

i am thinking about the Abit IP45 Pro board which is a DDR2 board...Abit is suppose to release a DDR3 version but i am not sure if they will actually do it.

BUT...i need to sell the GA-X48T and memory before i make a move.
