Hi guys

This is the 1st time I have assembled my own PC not to mention trying my hands on OCing.

I tuned the rig to run at 3.6Ghz and was able to run the Prime95 test for 1hr before cores start failing or even system reboot and the specs for my rig are as below:

Intel Q9450
GA X48T-DQ6
GSkill 2 x 1 DDR3-1600 CL 7-7-7-18 1.9V
Thermaltake Tough Power 750W
Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme
Powercolor HD 3870X2
Seagate 500GB 32MB Sata II
Noctua 12cm Fan
Antect 900

I hope to get some advices from you experts on how to OC it optimiumly and many thanks in advance

Hi mid9sun,
Welcome to the forum

We'll try our best to help. Can you do a couple of things for us which will help ??
1st copy & paste Bios Template from the above link abd add the current settings from your bios. That way we'll be able to get an idea what may need tweaking.

It would also help if you could add your components to your profile as shown Reload this Page How To Add Your System Specs To Your Profile!

thanks

games crashing every so often means one or more of your voltages is/are not up to par...either the Vdimm, MCH or Vcore might be the culprit(s).

My games dont crash and everything is fine if I do normal stuff. However, the pc reboots when I run prime or occt.

My guess is the the system is unstable when it get loaded way beyond normal usage. How do it fix this??

I hate to say this but your ram is not the best for pushing the limits, do you have problems running it at 1600 in prime or occt. is it stable? I sent it back and paid out the aZZ for the corsair 1800 $516.00 USD for 2 mb and it hurt but it made the system along with the HD4870. Im done i think its a solid system now might get another 4870 and try crossfire down the road.

try changing the vcore, vdimm, one setting at a time till its solid, that what i just got done doing vdimm 2.05 vcore 122.125 , pcie +10 fsb +10 gmch .400 running 7x450 and 7-7-7-20-cr1
