i think the Intel spec for NB might be 1.25v...i just looked at Abit's OC Uguru for the IP35 Pro and it has a minimum set of 1.25v
Ahhh Thanks Ace, yes that makes sense then now. & confirms thinks.

Will update it now & put that to bed.

thanks.

i looked at the ddr3 version asus is selling and it is not any where close to outperforming the x48 board...some have shown insane FSB's but the actual performance output has been behind clock for clock...i was about ready to show up one poster but i am, at the moment, leaving him alone

I'm not sure if the lack of DDR3 models is because Intel want to keep a recognisable differentiation between the 2 chipsets. X48 is supposed to be the high end, original talk was of it being ddr3 only, they couldn't get that because I think of pressure from motherboard manufacturers. They now have a 2nd easier chance, by making the p45 ddr2 only ??
Looking at other chipsets there never is that much between them, what difference there is gets exaggerated by the respective fanboys as you rightly say, doubtless X48 v P45 will also run . though with Nehalem waiting in the wings , it's an argument that won't go on too long.

i heard that the x38/x48 were designed or optimized for ddr3 but were always capable of operating with ddr2 memory...so...i presume that would be the same for the P45 chipset.

gigabyte strayed away from making a ddr3 P45 board while asus went full speed ahead with making a ddr3 P45 board...i almost bought one until i read through the Asus P45 thread over at XS and then i said to myself, "where's the freaking beef!"

abit is supposedly coming out with their P45 version in early july...i might give that a try; the ddr3 version.

Abit DDR3 boards are as scarce as rocking horse droppings. There's many still waiting for the X48 Max , the X38 Max was cancelled , so i wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a p45 ddr3 from Abit.

I'll see what comes along , if nothing may give the DFI UT X48-T3RS LanParty a whirl.
