Have not seen a discernible difference really. I've being running with D since it came out.

Default Voltage reading points & testing

1) Vdimm -Originally by loonym

Bios 1.60v (1.50v +0.10v)
MM Idle = 1.679 over volt = 0.079v
MM Load= 1.683 overvolt = 0.083v

2) Vcore, FSB (Vtt) & CPU/PCIEX Clock Driving Control
Vcore Originally by Ace-A-Rue

Vcore
Xeon X3230
Loadline Calibration = Auto
Bios.........1.375v
MM Idle....1.404v....CPU-Z .1.360v
MM Load...1.379v....CPU-Z .1.328v
Droop.......0.025v....CPU-Z..0.032v
FSB (Vtt)
Stock FSB voltage , changes depending on CPU Type
65NM = 1.25v
45NM = 1.15v (Wolfdale & Yorkfield)

On the 1st run :-
Xeon 3230
Bios = +0.0v
MM 1.253v
On 2nd run :-
Bios.........+0.15v +1.250v = 1.40v
MM .........1.402v
Which I think proves this pin is the FSB.

3rd run
Wolfdale E8400
Bios = +0.0V
MM 1.147v

CPU/PCIEX Clock Driving Control
Was just probing around when I found this.
Bios...... 700mv
Idle........695mv (0.695v)
Load.......734mv (0.734v)

3) (G)MCH Voltage

I'm not certain about this.

1st run :-
Default....1.250v
Stock....+0.000v
MM Load..1.227v
MM Idle...1.217v
Under....-0.033v *

2nd run :-
Default....1.250v
OClock...+0.375v
Shoud Be .1625v
MM Load..1.418v
MM Idle...1.404v
Diff........-0.221v

As Ace-A-Rue says Intel define the Base voltages for the chipset we've seen 1.25v as a base on on other boards in several chipsets.
So whilst disagreeing with Anantechs starting voltage. We can confirm the undervolt of around 0.2v when overvolting the (G) Mch.

Original assumption was a stock of 1.45v - 0.200 undervolt = 1.25v
This was from :-
(G)MCH Overvoltage Control
Quote:
Default voltage is 1.45V, and the available voltage scale provides an overvoltage of 0.025-0.775V. There an actual undervoltage of 0.2V from the BIOS set overvoltage. For example, as the stock voltage is set to 1.45V a BIOS setting of +0.50V would imply a voltage of 1.95V. However setting +0.50V gives an actual voltage of 1.75V, suggesting an undervoltage of 0.2V.
Middle Pin Reading :-
Stock
MM Idle...1.635
MM Load..1.642
Oclock
MM Idle..1.676
Mm Load.1.687
Delta
Idle.......0.041v
Load......0.045v

Difference may tie in with PCI-R overvolt which i had at 0 stock and 0.05v on overrclock

So would welcome any further input on NB & FSB if anyone's a mind to test

Default is 1.45v laccording to the article. But in reality it is around 1.25v from the multimeter reading., The 1.25v is what i've worked with from day 1 as a base , working from 1.45v - .20 under volt, What is odd is there appears to be another 0.20v under volt loking at the overclocked setting. Needs a bit more investigation yet.

So I'm unsure if the stock is 1.25v not 1.45v and there is an under voltage of 0.22v

Original assumption was a stock of 1.45v - 0.200 undervolt = 1.25v

i think the Intel spec for NB might be 1.25v...i just looked at Abit's OC Uguru for the IP35 Pro and it has a minimum set of 1.25v...i think the board makers have to follow intel's spec designs but are not limited by what they offer for the top end voltages...they are just probably required to provide the minimum specs...that is my gut feeling for this...what do you think?

could it be a typo by anandtech?...have you emailed the reviewer for anandtech to ask the question...might be interesting!
