umh another problem

i cannot manage my cellshock at cas 7 at 950mhz or more mhz, always blue screen, i tryed to manage timings manually but nothing. at cas 8 with 1,8v its ok now with f5a.
think its another bios problem for cas 7 at high frequencies ??

i saw all people with my ram do strange results with 2,1v @ 1ghz i tryed but blue screen always. what's wrong ?

Remember it also depends where you are looking Many reviews have hand picked samples. It's not necessarily the reviewers fault , but it happens.

Hi all !!!

Just got my new setup , heres the specs for your info .

- Coller Master Cosmos S RC1100
- Intel E8400
- Thermalright 120 eXtreme
- Giga-Byte GA-X48T-DQ6
- 2X1 Gig Kingston HyperX 1600 Mhz 9.9.9.27 DDR3 Dual Chanel ( KHX12800D3K2/2G )
- EVGA 9800 GX2
- Auzentech X Meridian 7.1 Sound Card
- 1 x WD Raptor 150 gig
- 3 x Seagate 500 gig 32 meg buffer
- Xigmatek 850 WATTS PSU
- Zalman ZM-MFC2 Fan Controler
- Dell Ultrasharp 2707 27" Flat Screen Display
- UPS 1500VA

Now the questions

Went thrue all 33 pages of this post but i am new with the Giga-Byte bios so i dont understand everything .

I "think" i have a good setup for overclocking on air only , but i aint sure about the bios settings , allot of adjustment , it's not like the Asus bios , really easy to configure .

I dont know about my memory if it's good or not , i think it's not bad ( Kingston's KHX12800D3K2/2G is a kit of two 128M x 64-bit 1GB (1024MB) DDR3-1600 CL9 SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM) memory modules, with each module based on eight 128M x 8-bit DDR3 FBGA components. Each module has been tested to run at DDR3-1600MHz at a low latency timing of 9-9-9-27 at 1.7V to 1.9V. The SPDs are programmed to JEDEC standard latency DDR3-1066Mhz timing of 7-7-7-20 at 1.5V. )

What would be the bios settings for getting the best overclock with this board ? You guys posted cool lists of settings and i would like to get one for mine if someone has the same setup

Sorry for the bad english , i'm french gimme a break

Thanks !

Mad

Hi Mad,
Welcome to the forums
The thing that throws most people with the gigabyte is the voltage secttion. The bios shows the overvoltage from default settings. That's fine if you know what ther default settings where , but gigabyte leave us to work that out for ourselves
If you look at the MotherBoard Intelligent Tweaker (MIT) post you'll see the defaults :-

DDR3 Overvoltage Control - Stock = 1.5v
PCI-E Overvoltage Control - Stock = 1.5v
FSB Overvoltage Control - Stock = 1.10v
(G)MCH Overvoltage Control - Stock = 1.45v

So to set your kingston to 1.9v you'll set an overclock of
DDR3 Overvoltage Control +0.40v (1.9v - default 1.50v)
the same applies to the other voltages above.

I've not used your Ram so can't really advise you too much. Oner of the best waysd to learn is to check ther timings in the SPD column as they change to match the dividder & FSB set. Use Memset to tweak & test settings in windows.

tRD (performance) has a big impact I usually set it to auto on a new clock & see if it will tighten (lower) with memset. If it doesn't windows freezes , but just reset & carry on. You've found the optimum

The best straps are B & D my preffered dividers are 3.33D & 4.00D which run very stable.

hope that helps

luck

umh i tryed to manage on 1:2 divisor my rams at 850x2 cas 7 and its totaly unstable, i dont think are rams because 1700 isnt and high frequ cas 7 for my rams... all people do 1000.... me 150 mhz less ??
with cas 8 nothing problem. but before upgrade to f5a from f4 i had same problem with cas 8 so maybe is the bios that dont manage good cas 7 timing at those frequencies ??
i tryed boot a 550 with ram @ 810 and all ok but its hard to get on 2:3 900 mhz on rams :/

i tryed f5D but i had problem @ 1000 cas 8 like f4. only with f5a works good 1000 cas 8...
