No it's not the xeon which is the 3230 and the xeon equivalent of the Q6700 Go 266x10.

Well my board is out of action, got my xeon yesterday am , put it in & it wouldn't work, put the e8400 back in that wouldn't post either
I'm actually running on the xeon now , having put it in my wife's rig to test.

I only added that xepn 5100 earlier as it was the nly article i could find with the pinout close to the 775.

Hey guys, I noticed some weird behavior with this board.
I use MX 518 with USB to PS2 converter. Now with this mouse attached, it wont boot over 410 Mhz FSB.
Remove it, and it will boot at 415 but not above that.

Then I also remember on how some old motherboards tightning the CPU heatsink bracket too much would result in no boot. So i removed my TRU120E mount and held it in place by hand. And there it is, booted fine at even 420-430Mhz.
As soon as i clamp down the true again using its default mount, it wont boot at 420.

Some weird board this is :P The socket is not able to handle too much hold down pressure. And i have one of those early TRUE mount kit with 1 leg little bent up for max pressure. Will play with other HSF i have and report back.

Sorry to hear of family emergency, hope all goes well

It's an odd thing re the clampdown Funky

did some more testing.....

With single stick of RAM. the board clocks really well. Easily goes beyond 450Mhz. I booted and ran prime at 470*9 on single stick of ram. (Gskill F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ kit).

Then if i shut down the PC and install another stick it boots and works fine. But if i restart the PC. it does not restart. Windows exits but PC does not boot again. I have to power down the PSU and start it again and this again results in OC failure.

But if instead of restarting, if system is shut down and cold booted, it boots and works fine.

This board sure has its own mood swings and personality.

i think it is your ram...a few guys over in XS IP35 Pro said they had booting problems with that same kind of memory...somehow, someway that DDR-8000 has problems with P35 and other chipsets...one guy on the Pro board called Gskill tech support and they confirmed that problem with P35 chipsets.

my son, who we visited at the end of april, has a ruptured colon...surgery will be performed in 2-3 days..objective, at the moment, is to get the infection under control so he does not need to have a colostomy bag...poor guy!

we are leaving tomorrow to visit and my wife will stay behind until he is capable of taking care of the kids...his wife has a full time job....he is an active duty military member...they will be lenient with medical leave although that puts a strain on the other instructor to train the scheduled classes.
