thanks for your cheer
the cpu is here in the back room where my gigabyte rig is setup...i just don't feel up to par to rip the heatsink off and remove the 9650...maybe later on this evening...i am sneezing like crazy, at times. ...it wouldn't be good to do that right as i was trying to mount the cpu

E8400 4,400Mhz 8x550@3.33D 1,832Mhz 8,7,6,18
Last run for now while I'm waiting for E8500 to arrive.
Gives me something to go for with the new cpu

GTLREF
Have been playing around with GTLRef
Unlike previous clocks where i've used the default Auto & normal this gives GTLREF1 = 67% & GTLREF2 = 63% I've tried -6% = 61% & -3% = 60%.
First time I tried this I got 4,500 = 9x500@3.33D 7,7,7,12 this got into xp but wasn't bench stable.
I think for 45nm 63% is supposed about the ball park so I guess -3% on both GTL 1 & GTL2 should be worth trying.

E8500 1st Shot 4,250 8.5x500 @3.33D 1,665 6,6,6,12
Whilst maximising CPU speed is paramount, experience with the E8200 & E8400 has shown that it's easier to run with a lower than maximum Multi, and a higher FSB. Also running with DDR3 the overall bandwidth is maximised by a higher FSB. In particular Write Speed
see E8400 1st Shot 4,320 9x480@3.33D 1,600Mhz 6,6,6,12
So my 1st clock on the E8500 is 8.5x500 @3.33D 1,665 6,6,6,12
This is a repeat of E8400 4,250Mhz 8.5x500@3.33D 1667 6,6,6,12 but the higher bin of the E8500 is apparent in that this clock is OCCT Stable :-

ok...got it running with the 8800GTS card...wanted to make it boot with the previous hardware.
i am doing well...currently at 4 Ghz running Prime 95 using only 1.22 actual vcore..i am just about 10 minutes into it...that is my 1st check to see if it can at least P95 for a few minutes...i am only to about 421 FSB @ 9.5 multi.
i will start raising the FSB and lowering the multi to see what my maximum is.
