Thanks Dave. The lampshade actually had a purpose in the beginning. I had V-Ray doing scattering off the pieces and the effect looked quite realistic. But the render time became an issue. When I was first doing the wireframe I was hoping to hit somewhere around 15 minutes render time for an E8400. I thought at that time, regardless of processor, render times would be comparable to each other. The scattering increased the time by quite a bit. I had to change a few other things too. That's why the ceiling lights are turned off.
If you noticed I ran Crysis as a 32Bit/DX9 app in Vista. With 2GB of ram that's the only way to run it. It's not even playable with 64Bit or DX10.

Could anybody give an explanation of the effects of the "Host slew rate" option in the BIOS?
I mean i read in the guide that it increases the drive clock of the NB or something like that, but is there a general rule to decide whether to set it to weak or strong? Is the Strong option meant just for bench runs or it is safe for 24/7 usage?

I had been using my X48-T2R for several months now and without issue, then all of sudden late last night when I went boot up I don't get past the splash screen and the post code is showing 75. So I reboot several times to no avail, EZ flash several times to no avail, then pull out the battery + set jumpers to clear CMOS for several hours and of course every time getting that annoying 75 code... So I finally got around to going online(via my laptop) and searching for post code 75; Which was IDE device detection. Then I remembered my Samsung DVD burner had basically died on me(every disc was made into a coaster) so I pulled the SATA plug from the mobo that connected the DVD burner and voila everything works fine again... But to be on the safe side I updated to the latest beta bios.
Ok, now does any of that ^ make sense? Would/Could a malfunctioning burner really cause a 75 error code? Or is my mobo showing the first signs of a slow painful death?

A malfunctioning anything that's plugged into the board can potentially cause problems.
I've seen a few people have problems with Samsung SATA DVD drives, only to change them for another brand and they've been ok, and vice versa.

I did some tests with crysis and the 2GB and 4GB corsair kits, and vista x64, there was certainly an increase in some areas, but for anything over medium settings on my test rig @ 1920x1200, it looked and felt awful. I didn't try DX9 though, maybe I should give that a go and see
Interesting points about the V-Ray thing. So, is that a custom picture that you've made? I haven't used V-Ray myself, it certainly looks good though.

Thanks for the prompt response.
I guess I'll be buying a new burner made by someone other than samsung.
BTW is there a page I could check out that goes in depth explaining the changes between the official bios release X48AD307 and beta bios release X48DA714? Any word on an upcoming official bios update?
-EDIT-
oops I thanked the wrong post... >< Thanks again Clunk.

I've been using an LG unit with no problems with CDs, Dual and Single Layer DVDs since november (I guesstimate at least 200 Single layer DVDs), and since it costed me 35 euros i guess it's a good bang for the buck.
Aw and it also has a god support for CD Audio extraction, in case you use EAC.
I also heard from a retailer that NEC units are good.

What about trying a firmware update for your existing burner if it still works?...although if it suddenly stopped working for no reason, it's probably suffering from deadness
Also, I have a samsung IDE DVD burner in my test rig and a samsung SATA burner in my X48-T2R rig and they are both playing fine at the moment.

It was an existing wireframe model. Just made some changes to it.
