Even the cheaper ones from maplins are ok for checking PSU voltages, the more expensive ones seem to go to more decimal places and some have temp probes and hertz/ohms/amps, hold etc.

For a basic meter though, £30 will be more than enough.

I got this from Maplins , good unit. Also has a temperature probe as well.

supershanks I've had a look at you guide before, looking at the maplins site it comes in 2 flavors(the A & the C, which is better?).

I'm reinstalling windows at the moment, hope there wouldn't be any more windows related problems. still need to have a play with the 24pin pass through cable so can use the case power button.

Mine is the C , think the A lacks the temp probe

hmm, its not installing properly. it gets through the formating and initial installation, but when the pc restarts and the xp installation occurs its getting stuck at setup will complete in 34 mins stage(the pc freezes some times, have been trying for the past 3hrs.

Tomorrow, when you get up, start a thread in the software section and we will help you get your windows installed - that's assuming that all your hardware is ok and you have suitable drivers for everything
