I'll give it a crack now, I've got a RAM question too... but firsts first. I'll do it now.
cheers

It's already set like to that... thats the settings Clunk set in his template.. I thought those options were the energy saving options and for benching they had all been disabled (apart from core Multi).
Which options were you referring too when you mentioned:
??Aw yes, and at my daily 4GHz I can keep all my power saving stuff enabled no problem.

I have it like this:
Thermal Management Control: Enabled
PPM(EIST) Mode: Enabled
Limit CPUID MaxVal: Disabled
CIE Function: Enabled
Execute Disable Bit: Enabled
Virtualization Technology: EnabledCore Multi-Processing: Enabled
Ok I want to get 8GB of memory for this mobo, but I don't want to give up overclocking completely, so I'd like a quality kit (well actually two of them).
I would prefer them normal height, no enormous heatspreaders I will cool them with a OCZ XTC I have in some box somewhere.
I was thinking something like this or this what you guys think, any other good stuff I should consider?
From what ive read the blades would give more headroom and work at lower Vdimm, the Muskin however i know nothing about and cant even find any credible reviews.
The Mushkins are the only kit i know of that would look good in the yellow slots though.![]()
PC:
ASUS RIIE // Intel i7 920 D0 4.4Ghz 1.375v //
OCZ Reaper 1800 C8 // Sapphire 5970 1Ghz x2 //
Intel X25-M G2 80GB RAID0 // BeQuiet DPP 1200w //
Seagate 500GB 32mb 7200 // LG BR //
Cooling:
TFC Monsta 6xSharkoon 1200rpm 140mm //
HWL GTX480 4xScythe Ultra Kaze 2000rpm //
EK Supreme LT // EK FC-5970 // XSPC RS120 //
Laing DDC1 3.2 x2 // XSPC Res-tops // KL QDCs
Uh yes they look great and that's a plus, although it seems the kit is nothing but the 1066 2x2GB kit with a green heatspreader in place of the black one, maybe they select the better ICs maybe not, but anyway it seems they work if you fill up the 4 slots or so I could read in a forum.
The OCZ kit seems great but I'm worried about compatibility until i can find someone that already used it.

At that voltage it must be some new kind of chip, never seen anything like this before, so that's why I'm double worried. I'd like a nice quad set of D9 GMH or GKX baased sticks, shame they have been out of production for some time now.
Ive return to my overclocking efforts in search of tighter RAM timings and a happy medium for 24/7. After reading Clunks results with the same CPU I thought I'd go for 400x9.5 @ 1.32v =3800 with a 400/1066 strap 2.35vdimm @ 4.4.4.4.
But I cant seem to boot into windows anyting higher then stock! is it possible to lose hardware overclocking potential by excessive overclocking?
I'm finding when i do get into windows at whatever stable clock i get in with my time has been reset?? to like 2007 or whatever??
I had been having to remove the Battery to clear the cmos after some crazy attempts 4500mhz 500x9 @ 1.4v (not enough v-core).
Any ideas?
should I do a slow clear of the CMOS (kill power remove bat and leave for a couple hours)?
Have I done damage? is my RAM capable of such timings? (I actually have some Crucial Ballisitix 8500 somwhere, but 4x1gb dimms).
I'm in 3.1Ghz 1.25v (couldnt remember the default when setting my v-core) running 2.26v-dimm 5.5.5.15. About as stock as i could remember.
cheers guys.
