I ran the same RAM on my old Gigabyte X38 - had to set it to run at 5-6-6-18 to get it to run properly though.....

Yes it was 1066 - OCZ says the mem should run 5-5-5-18 @ 2.1v - 2.2v. OCZ Reaper

I had to spend a few days working out the correct speeds and voltages for it with that board though.......

I ended up at +0.35 for the memory, which ran the mem at 1066.

so far it seems more stable... so my error must have been trying RAM at +0.40 and not +0.35 i guess... ... ill post back if it fails

Doesn't sound good for that memory at that speed. I saw +.2 suggested for fsb overvoltage, just wondering if u tried +.1 or even +.05 if present.

Over at TTGigaByte they suggest pcie frequency of 100 rather than auto, but would that affect ram?

I guess you've tried something like 5 - 6 - 6 -18 - 4 - 4 - 8 - 57 - 4 on the ram already? Suggestions above already cover the possibilities pretty well.

Run CD version of memtest at 1066 to see if its a definite fail?

May have to stay at 800 or replace ram.

Things have been going smoothly for me, and a little *too* easy you might say. I'm currently running my E8400 @ 445x9 = 4.00Ghz. CPU voltage at 1.3v. 2.00D strap, so the RAM is @ 890Mhz. Temps are at 45'C max with Prime running, and my CPU fan is only at low-medium RPMs. My RAM is at +0.30v (it's rated at 1066mhz 5-5-5-15 @ 2.1v... though I've accidentally booted it at 1.8v with looser timings). I've only had Prime running for an hour, but will leave it on overnight to waste electricity

On another note, I'm actually upgrading from an E2160, which is a 1.8Ghz chip that I had OC'd to 3Ghz. I ran some benchmarks to test the difference from E2160@3Ghz vs E8400@3Ghz. Theoretically this was just the cache difference of 1MB vs 6MB, respectively. I saw 10-20% improvement across CPU benchmarks and non-graphics intensive games (Unreal Tournament 3, Left 4 Dead 2).

Also, my BIOS is F9J

Thanks for input Salty I always tend top set pcie frequency 100~103 rather than auto. As you say doubt it will do anything for ram.

Is sounding bad but the most likely option.
